Interswitch, Africa’s leading digital payment and commerce company, recently welcomed a delegation of Executive MBA students from the prestigious University of Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS) to its headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The visit formed part of the students’ Nigeria Trek, a study tour designed to expose participants to the dynamics of Africa’s business environment.
During the engagement, the delegation gained first-hand insight into Interswitch’s 23-year journey of driving payment innovation, building robust digital infrastructure, and championing financial inclusion across Africa.
The interactive session traced Interswitch’s evolution from a transaction switching company to a diversified technology powerhouse, spotlighting its role in enabling secure, seamless payments and supporting the continent’s digital economy growth.
Speaking during the engagement, Mitchell Elegbe, founder and group managing director of Interswitch Group, emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange and international collaboration.
“It is an honour to welcome the CJBS 2025 delegation to Interswitch. Beyond showcasing our story, this engagement provides an avenue for candid conversations about Africa’s payments ecosystem, its unique opportunities, and the innovations shaping the future. Hosting the distinguished delegation is not only a chance to share our journey, but also a platform to engage with the next generation of global business leaders. We believe that interactions like this foster mutual learning, broaden perspectives, and spotlight the transformative potential of African innovation on the global stage,” Elegbe said.
Also present at the session were Oremeyi Akah, Chief Customer Officer, who shared insights on Interswitch’s operational excellence, governance, and sustainable growth strategies, and Cherry Eromosele, Executive Vice President, Group Marketing and Communications, who joined in welcoming the delegation.
The visit follows Elegbe’s earlier courtesy call to the University of Cambridge Judge Business School to explore avenues for collaboration and strengthen ties with the institution.
Members of the CJBS delegation described the engagement as “an invaluable experience,” highlighting the opportunity to see how an African company has grown into a continental leader in payments technology while navigating the complexities of Africa’s business landscape.
This visit further reinforces Interswitch’s role as a trailblazer in Africa’s digital economy and underscores the importance of academic-industry collaboration in shaping the future of global business and innovation.
