Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has announced that its Chairman, Mr. Mutiu Sunmonu, CON, will step down from the Board of Directors on March 31, 2025, concluding a distinguished tenure.
During a Board meeting held on December 5, 2024, Engr. Goni Musa Sheikh was elected as the new Chairman, effective April 1, 2025, for a three-year term.
This is in accordance and alignment with the company’s Succession Planning Policy, which would allow for a seamless transition and continuity in the leadership of the Board.
Engr. Goni Musa Sheikh: is a graduate of the University of Exeter, Camborne School of Mines, England, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Minerals Engineering. He also holds a Master of Science Degree from the Imperial College, University of London, in Minerals Process Design Engineering.
He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers, a Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), a Member of the Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria (COREN), a Member of the Council of Mining Engineers and Geoscientists and Member, Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society, and an Associate of the Camborne School of Mines.
He has over 35 years of cognate, international, and strategic experience in Mining, Oil, and Gas operations, particularly in the public sector, which commenced with the Nigerian Mining Corporation, Jos, and from which sector he retired as Federal Permanent Secretary in July 2015.
He is the Executive Vice Chairman of Oriental Energy Resources Limited. He sits on the boards of directors of Ezikel Refinery Limited, Nigserve Energy Services Limited, and Julius Berger Investments Limited.
He is a Member of the Shareholder Advisory Council of Julius Berger International GmbH. He was appointed to the Board of Julius Berger on July 1, 2019.
