Over the weekend, the Nigeria Customs Service’s Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali, redeployed Customs Area Controllers at the Muritala Muhammed Airport command and the Western Marine command (NCS).
As a result of the transfer, Comptroller Mohammed Yusuf and Oduadu Salefu were named Area Controllers of the service’s Airport Command and Western Marine Command, respectively.
According to Victor Ogagbor, the Airport Command’s Public Relations Officer, Compt. Yusuf took over the Command’s affairs from Sambo Dangaladima, who was transferred to the service’s Kano/Jigawa Command.
Compt. Yusuf, sought the cooperation of officers in the Command’s to meet its target objectives, saying, teamwork, discipline, and cooperation were needed to sustain and surpass the revenue target of the command.
Meanwhile, the newly appointed Compt. Western Marine Command, Compt. Salefu, charged officers and stakeholders during his handover, calling on officers and men of the Command to join hands with him to ensure the Command continues to achieve its mandate efficiently and professionally.
He also urged Officers to consider leadership change as a constant in their professional careers and life in general.
Comptroller Salefu brings with him a plethora of operational competence in revenue, enforcement, valuation, classification, information technology, intelligence, and administration, having worked in several Customs formations and departments.
Prior to his appointment as Comptroller, Comptroller Salefu held the position of Comptroller at the Department of Strategy, Research, and Policy (SR&P), NCS headquarters in Abuja, and was the DC Compliance Officer, Port Harcourt Area 2 Onne.
The CAC also ordered Officers and Men of the Command to work hard to improve on the current pace of anti-smuggling operations and to build on the accomplishments of previous administrations in order to attain a higher scorecard.
