NCAA to Meet Airstrip Owners

As part of its continued commitment to strengthening regulatory oversight, promoting safety, and fostering sustainable development across Nigeria’s aviation landscape, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is convening a high-level Stakeholders Engagement with Airstrip Owners and Operators.

The engagement, scheduled to take place on 28th April, 2025 at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos is aimed at fostering dialogue, clarifying regulatory expectations, and collaboratively addressing challenges associated with the operation, maintenance, and certification of airstrips across the country.

Theme: “Enhancing Safety, Compliance, and Collaboration for Efficient Airstrip Operations”

Capt. Chris Najomo, the director general Civil Aviation, NCAA, emphasized the importance of this strategic engagement. “Airstrips play a vital role in connecting remote communities, supporting emergency services, and promoting economic development. Ensuring their safety, regulatory compliance, and proper integration into Nigeria’s airspace management system is a national priority,” he noted.

Key Objectives of the Engagement Include:
– Promoting awareness of regulatory requirements governing airstrip development and operations
– Providing clarity on NCAA guidelines for airstrip certification, licensing, and monitoring
– Strengthening collaboration between NCAA and airstrip stakeholders for improved safety outcomes

The forum will feature presentations by experts from the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development and NCAA technical departments, peer to peer learnings and interactive Q&A sessions.

Participants will include:
Airstrip owners (public and private), operators, state government aviation officials, air navigation service provider, aviation consultants, representatives of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
