The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has announced that the 2025 edition of its flagship event, the National Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA), will hold on November 20, 2025, at MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos, Dr. Muhammad Sirajo Aliyu, the president of NCS, said the awards remain a unique national platform to recognize and reward individuals, state governments, and institutions that have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of information technology in Nigeria and beyond.

“NCS has been the voice of IT professionals in Nigeria for over four decades, with more than 35,000 members spread across all sectors of the economy. Under our leadership, we are determined to be strategic, innovative, and forward-looking, ensuring that NCS continues to be the foremost platform for promoting IT development and enhancing corporate relevance,” Dr. Aliyu said.

This year’s award categories include;

  • IT Personality of the Year,
  • Digital Governor of the Year,
  • IT Gold Medal Award,
  • Youth Innovation Award,
  • IT Company of the Year,
  • Tech Mentor of the Year,
  •  Cybersecurity Advocate of the Year, and
  • Recognition Awards.

According to Dr. Aliyu, numerous nominations have been received, and winners will emerge through an IT-driven, transparent online voting system overseen by a screening committee.

In addition to the awards, the ceremony will also feature the conferment of the prestigious Professional Fellowship on deserving NCS members who have distinguished themselves through significant contributions to the growth of IT.

 Honourary Fellowships will equally be awarded to notable individuals for their extraordinary service and commitment to the sector.

Dr. Aliyu expressed appreciation to partners, corporate members, chapters, the press, and the general public for their continued support of NCS and its mission.

He urged the media to give the event wide publicity, noting that NITMA reflects the society’s enduring commitment to building an inclusive, globally competitive, and knowledge-driven Nigeria.
