The Rise Up and Sparkle Initiative, in collaboration with Nesgel Schools, marked the International Day of the Girl Child with an inspiring event themed Girls’ Vision for the Future.

The celebration, held at Nesgel Schools, aimed to empower young girls to dream big and take charge of their futures.

The event commenced with an opening speech by Omojola Funmilola (Mrs.), founder and CEO of the Rise Up and Sparkle Initiative. She encouraged the girls to believe in themselves and aspire to leadership roles.

Mrs. Omojola also emphasized the importance of learning various digital skills to enhance their learning and productivity in an increasingly digital world.

Her message was echoed by other team members, including Mr. and Mrs. Tunde and Isabella Mhehia, and Mrs. Ebele Amaefuele, who shared motivational insights on self-esteem and the importance of pursuing their ambitions.

One of the highlights of the day was the Girls’ Child Day Declaration, which resonated with participants as they confidently recited their affirmations of strength and purpose:

“I am a girl of strength and purpose.

My dreams are big, and my future is bright.

I will use my voice to lead and my heart to uplift.

With courage and vision, I will shape a better tomorrow.

I am unstoppable, and my potential knows no limits.”

Students participated in a lively debate on the importance of leadership in shaping their futures and showcased their creativity in a storytelling competition, sharing their visions for what lies ahead. The day was further enlivened by a spirited choreography performance.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from the female teachers of Nesgel Schools, who supported and encouraged the students throughout the day.

Mr. Oderinde, the director of Nesgel Schools, was also present to cheer on the girls, while volunteers were recognized for their dedication in making the event a success.

The celebration left attendees feeling empowered and motivated, reinforcing the mission of the Rise Up and Sparkle Initiative to equip young girls with the skills and confidence needed to become future leaders.
