Marking a significant milestone in its journey, the Nigerian University of Technology and Management (NUTM), a leading institution dedicated to redefining Africa’s future through world-class education, welcomed the pioneering students of its undergraduate program during its Inaugural Matriculation Ceremony on Saturday, January 11, 2025.

The ceremony, held at its temporary campus in Apapa, Lagos, served as the official welcome for the university’s first cohort of undergraduate students. Parents, dignitaries, and stakeholders in the education sector gathered to witness this momentous occasion.

In his address, Dr. Okey Enelemah, chairman, NUTM Board of Trustees, emphasized the university’s commitment to nurturing the world’s next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers.

“This ceremony is a testament to our vision of fostering transformative education in Africa. These students represent the future of the continent, and we are proud to provide them with the tools and environment to thrive,” he explained.

Also present at the ceremony was Mrs. Bola Adesola, Chairman of Ecobank Nigeria and a member of the NUTM Board.

In her remarks, she encouraged the students to not only focus on their academics but also embrace life’s broader experiences and explore the diverse opportunities the institution offers.

According to her, these experiences will prepare them to face future challenges.

She added,

“As the first group of students to matriculate, you are playing a pivotal role in embodying NUTM’s mission to develop innovative leaders in technology and management who will create an impact in Africa and the world.”

During the ceremony, the opening of admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session was announced. The undergraduate programs offer a cutting-edge curriculum, designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to excel in a competitive global landscape for students interested in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Information Technology.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Babs Omotowa, President of NUTM, encouraged the students to pursue excellence and embrace the university’s opportunities.

“We aim to create an environment that goes beyond knowledge to nurture moral courage, critical thinking, and the capacity to create opportunities,” he said.

He highlighted NUTM’s affiliations with top international institutions and private-sector organizations, designed to enhance student employability and global competitiveness.

Dr. Omotowa urged the matriculants to seize the limitless opportunities at NUTM and steer clear of vices that could hinder their success.

The Inaugural Matriculation ceremony was a resounding success as enthusiastic matriculants pledged their commitment to the university’s core values, officially becoming bona fide students of NUTM.
