There is confusion over the post of Postmaster General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST).

Recall that President Bola Tinubu had approved the appointment of new and returning Chief Executives to fresh terms in office across multiple agencies under the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, of which Tola Odeyemi was, announced the new Postmaster General / CEO, Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST).

However, on Saturday, according to a statement on NIPOST’s page Adeyemi Sunday Adepoju claims that he has been reinstated as the PMG/CEO of NIPOST citing “Adepoju’s sterling leadership and excellent performance during his stay in office as the reason for his reinstatement.

Under his leadership, the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has witnessed unprecedented growth and development. Rt. Hon Adepoju has implemented various innovative strategies that have repositioned NIPOST for greater efficiency and effectiveness.

“As Postmaster General, some of the remarkable achievements of NIPOST under his leadership include the implementation of the Address Verification System (AVS), Digital Postcode System for the country, procurement of 20 new Operational Vehicles and 100 Motor bikes to boost the mail delivery efficiency and effectiveness and enhance the Last Mile Delivery. Additionally, is the remodelling of Post Offices across the country to smart Post Offices where citizens can access another of e-government services and financial services inclusion of the Federal Government.

“Rt. Hon. Sunday Adepoju expressed his gratitude to President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), for returning him as the Postmaster General. He also thanked Rt. Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani and others for their unwavering support.

“He promised to redouble his efforts in transforming NIPOST into a world class postal service organization that will contribute significantly to the socio–economic development of Nigeria.

“The recall of Rt. Hon Sunday Adeyemi Adepoju as the Postmaster General of the Federation/CEO, NIPOST is a testimony to his leadership skills, expertise, and commitment to service. Nigerians can expect more value and quality services from NIPOST.

“Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) as an agency saddle with providing postal services in Nigeria is more than ever committed to providing efficient, reliable, and effective postal services to all regardless of their location.

“NIPOST operates the network of over 3000 post offices and provide a wide range of services including mailing, logistics, courier, and financial services”.

Celebrating the Appointment of Tola Odeyemi PMG/CEO of NIPOST

On Sunday, Ms. Tola Odeyemi was being celebrated as a veteran in tech policy and government regulation for stepping into a new era of leadership in the Nigeria’s postal services

According to Oluwaseun Dania, CEO of Alpha-Geek Technologies the appointment of Ms. Tola Odeyemi as the new Postmaster General and CEO of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), reflects the discerning decision by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Administration to herald a new dawn for NIPOST and is indicative of a future-forward governance approach.

“With a sterling career reflecting a firm grounding in Tech Policy and Government Regulation, coupled with distinguished roles at global giants like Uber and Binance, Ms. Odeyemi has proven herself to be an authority in the intersection of technology and policy.

“Her journey through pivotal roles, including being the Team Lead for the Industry Infrastructure and Technology Project (South West Implementation) at the Central Bank of Nigeria and Facility Manager/External Projects Manager at 21st Century Technologies, is a testament to her in-depth knowledge and innovative leadership.

“In addition to her vast professional experiences, she has displayed notable public service, having served as the Executive Secretary/Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor H.E. Akinwunmi Ambode, where her contributions to policy-making and strategic implementation have been profoundly impactful.

“Ms. Odeyemi’s extensive 15-year career, reflecting expertise in Technology Policy, Financial Technology Regulation, Environmental Regulation, Investment and Trade Promotion, Infrastructure Finance, and Public Sector Policy Reform, uniquely positions her as a trailblazer capable of steering NIPOST towards technological advancement and operational excellence in line with the goals set out by the Minister for Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy; Dr. Bosun Tijani.

“In her role as a Public Policy Professional with a solid background in Electrical and Systems Engineering, Ms. Odeyemi has consistently demonstrated not only her aptitude in deploying technology to meet policy and regulatory requirements but also her competency in formulating forward-thinking technology policies.

As at the time of filling this report, the Presidency has NOT released official statement regarding who is the substantive PMG of the Federation/CEO of NIPOST.
