Samsung is arguably one of the best Android phone manufacturers in the market, continually releasing new phones to expand their customers’ choices.
This October, Samsung announced the release of a new set of devices in the Fan Edition (FE) family: the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9 FE, and Galaxy Buds FE.
We all want to know what to expect from these devices, and that’s why we’re here. In this article, we will be reviewing the Galaxy S23 FE.
Design & Display:
The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE features a 6.4-inch FHD+ 2340 x 1018 AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The phone has slim bezels on its screen, and its maximum brightness is expected to exceed 1000 nits, which surpasses that of its counterpart, the A54. However, it’s not as bright as the S23 flagship phones, which reach approximately 1750 nits.
The dimensions of the Galaxy S23 FE are 157.9 x 76.5 x 8.1mm, and it boasts a sleek Corning Gorilla Glass 5 design on both the front and back surfaces, providing a protective yet luxurious look. However, this design choice adds to the overall weight of the phone. It is encased with aluminum rails, reducing its weight to 209g. Color options include Graphite, Cream, Mint, and Purple. While its design resembles that of the older Galaxy A series, it promises enhanced durability.
Camera
The S23 FE features a triple rear camera system arranged linearly, equipped with Advanced Digital Image Stabilization (VDIS) and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for capturing steady shots. It comprises a 50 MP primary camera, a 12 MP ultrawide camera, and an 8 MP telephoto camera with 3x zoom capabilities. Additionally, it houses a 10 MP front camera in an on-screen hole punch cutout for selfies.
Storage and OS:
The Samsung phone comes with 8GB of RAM and is available in both 128GB and 256GB ROM variants. However, it does not support expandable storage. The Galaxy S23 FE is powered by the Snapdragon Gen 1 SoC, the same as the Samsung Galaxy S22, which, while not the latest, ensures efficient performance.
It operates on Android 13 with One UI 5.1. Samsung has committed to providing updates for four major OS versions and five years of security patches, ensuring the device’s longevity through a robust software update policy.
Battery and Charging:
The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE is equipped with a 4500mAh battery that supports fast charging. With 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging capabilities, the phone can recharge up to 50% of its power within 30 minutes. While not groundbreaking, it’s worth noting that the phone supports wireless charging.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Fan Edition was officially announced on October 3rd but will not be available until October 26th, starting at a price of $600.
The phone is positioned as an above mid-range Galaxy phone, offering standout features among other flagship phones while incorporating some toned-down aspects to maintain a competitive price within the mid-range Samsung Flagship phones’ range.
