The company said net income for the year reached $1.06 billion, up from $845.7 million in 2024. Earnings per share also climbed, with GAAP EPS rising 29% to $9.62.

In the fourth quarter alone, revenue came in at $745 million, a 6% increase year on year. Subscription revenue stood out, rising 11% to $325 million.

Growth is not coming from one-off sales, it is being driven by recurring security subscriptions, which now account for a large share of total income.

The company also reported calculated billings of $2.9 billion for the full year, up 9%. Remaining performance obligations, which show future contracted revenue, reached $2.73 billion.

Chief Executive Officer Nadav Zafrir said: “We delivered solid fourth quarter and full year 2025 results, with revenue landing above the midpoint of our outlook and EPS exceeding expectations. Our performance remained resilient throughout the year, driven by continued customer adoption across our Hybrid Mesh Network and Workspace platforms.”

He added: “In 2026, our strategy is centred on securing our customers’ AI transformation across the enterprise. We are focused on executing against our four strategic pillars, Hybrid Mesh, Workspace, and Exposure Management, while embedding AI-driven security throughout our portfolio.

“Today’s announced acquisition of Cyata further expands our AI security stack, enabling full discovery, governance, and control of AI agents as organisations accelerate their AI journeys.”

Beyond earnings, the company moved to strengthen its product offering. It announced three acquisitions in early 2026, covering AI security, asset monitoring, and managed service platforms.

Cash reserves more than doubled during the year. Cash, marketable securities and short-term deposits rose to $4.34 billion from $2.78 billion. The increase followed proceeds from a $2 billion convertible notes offering.

At the same time, Check Point returned money to shareholders. It repurchased about 6.8 million shares in 2025 at a total cost of $1.4 billion.

Cash flow from operations also improved, reaching $1.23 billion for the year despite a one-off tax payment linked to prior years.

Check Point is growing steadily, with stronger revenue in 2025, thriving subscriptions, and a larger cash position in 2026.

The company disclosed the plan on Wednesday as it reported stronger-than-expected core earnings for 2025, trusting Africa’s long-term growth potential despite competition in the region’s media and streaming market.

Canal+ said earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) reached 527 million euros ($613 million) in 2025, beating its earlier forecast of 515 million euros.

The combined Canal+ and MultiChoice group generated 8.665 billion euros in revenue during the year and now serves 42.3 million subscribers across operations in Europe, Africa and Asia.

Africa expansion plan

Following its takeover of MultiChoice, Canal+ said it would roll out a 100-million-euro investment programme aimed at strengthening the business in African markets.

The plan includes improving content offerings, simplifying subscription packages and expanding the company’s sales network by recruiting more than 1,000 sales agents across the continent.

The hiring drive comes as MultiChoice’s subscriptions decline. The company’s subscriber base fell from 14.9 million to 14.4 million in 2025, due to economic challenges in key markets and competition from global streaming platforms.

Canal+ CEO Maxime Saada has previously described Africa as a major growth opportunity for the group, saying the company intends to build on MultiChoice’s strong regional presence.

Showmax shutdown and restructuring

Earlier this week, Canal+ confirmed it would discontinue Showmax, the streaming platform previously operated by MultiChoice, after the service struggled to reach profitability.

Launched in 2015, Showmax was created as a pan-African streaming service designed to compete with international platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+.

However, losses from the service increased in recent years, with MultiChoice reporting an 88% jump in trading losses before the takeover.

Alongside the expansion effort, Canal+ said it would introduce a voluntary severance programme for certain support roles at MultiChoice as part of a broader restructuring plan.

For 2026, Canal+ expects moderate organic revenue growth, with adjusted EBIT projected to reach about 565 million euros.

The company also forecast cash flow from operations above 500 million euros and an adjusted EBIT margin exceeding 9%.

While MultiChoice’s revenue may decline slightly this year, Canal+ said profitability is expected to improve, with adjusted EBIT forecast to rise to around 170 million euros.

Canal+ completed its $3 billion acquisition of MultiChoice in September 2025, creating one of the largest pay-TV groups operating across Africa, Europe and Asia.

The company said it will present a detailed integration and growth strategy for the combined business in a strategic update expected in early 2026.

The telecommunications giant last rewarded shareholders in 2023, but a strong rebound in earnings and operations is clearing the way for a payout in the 2025 financial year. 

MTN’s negative equity, which stood at ₦458 billion at the end of 2024, has reduced to ₦42.51 billion by mid-2025 and Analysts project that the figure will turn positive in the third quarter, an important step towards dividend reinstatement.

The record of strong payout ratios for MTN Nigeria, coupled with recent comments from MTN Group President Ralph Mupita about a possible public offer after dividend resumption, has further enhanced expectations.

Explosive data growth and the full impact of tariff increases, which took effect in the second quarter, are huge contributors to this. In that period, data revenue soared 85.6% year-on-year to ₦701 billion, up from ₦377 billion a year earlier. 

Across the first half, MTN earned ₦1.22 trillion from data sales, supported by an increase in active users to 51 million and a 21.1% jump in average data consumption to 13.2GB per user.

Data now accounts for 51.7% of total revenue, increasing from 47.2% a year earlier, and is projected to hit 53% by year-end. Voice revenue also has a 40% growth forecast for 2025 despite competition from OTT alternatives like WhatsApp calls.

The recovery is also showing in profitability as MTN posted a half-year net income of ₦414.9 billion, a 179.9% increase compared with last year. Its EBITDA margin climbed to 50.6% in the first half, up from 35.6% in the same period of 2024. 

Management attributed the improvement to a more stable naira and cost savings from renegotiated tower lease agreements.

Again, net operating cash flow surged 79.2% year-on-year to ₦955.68 billion in H1 2025, even after huge capital spending and debt repayments. First-half CAPEX surged 288.4% year-on-year to ₦565.67 billion, pushing CAPEX intensity to 23.8%. 

The company plans to invest an average of ₦1.34 trillion annually over the next five years to support revenue growth of nearly 27% per year. 

While this front-loaded spending will ease in the second half, analysts say it underlines MTN’s goal to strengthen its network and expand services.

After a difficult 2024, when the share price slid 24% to end the year at ₦200, MTN’s stock has staged an interesting recovery. Starting 2025 at ₦200, it surged to ₦250 by January-end, gathered further pace in June, and delivered a 32% gain in July alone. 

As of early August, the shares trade at ₦480, a 140% year-to-date return and a market capitalisation above ₦10 trillion, making MTN only the second company on the Nigerian Exchange to hit that milestone after Dangote Cement.

CardinalStone has maintained a “Hold” rating on the stock, with a target price of ₦526.94 for 2025. Cordros Capital projects a dividend per share of ₦17.19, offering a yield of about 7% at current prices.

With data-led growth, expanding fintech operations, and continued network investment, analysts believe MTN is well placed to sustain its momentum. “Positive outlook affirmed for telco bellwether,” CardinalStone wrote in its August 6 report.
