The company announced the products on Monday at its Adobe Summit conference in Las Vegas, saying businesses now work so hard to stay visible on AI search tools, chat services and automated shopping platforms, while also improving customer experiences on their own websites.

Adobe said the new system expands its existing Adobe Experience Manager platform, which many brands already use to manage websites and digital content.

The latest update adds tools designed to help companies control approved content, permissions, governance regulations and brand information used by internal teams and AI systems.

Loni Stark, vice president of strategy and product at Adobe, said companies now need to think beyond content management.

There is a new intermediary between brands and their customers, and unlike every one that came before it, this has the ability to reason,” said Stark.

For decades, brands have managed content, but now they also need to manage context to pinpoint what AI understands about their offerings and the institutional knowledge their own agents need to act, challenges that can be solved with our new solution.”

Adobe said the new package includes tools across four areas: monitoring brand visibility, creating content, reaching customers and measuring results.

One product, Adobe LLM Optimiser, is designed to show how brands appear in AI-driven search and recommendation systems. It also highlights gaps in product visibility during online shopping searches.

The company also introduced new features for Adobe Commerce, which supports online retailers. Adobe said these updates will help businesses improve product listings and customer discovery through AI shopping tools.

Another product, Adobe Brand Concierge, offers conversational shopping experiences with real-time product details and checkout options.

Adobe said brands will also be able to create experiences that run directly inside large language model platforms through a new feature called LLM Apps.

The company added several AI agents to support content teams.

These include Brand Experience Agent, which updates web pages and creates new content, Content Advisor Agent, which finds approved materials for teams, and Brand Governance Agent, which checks brand rules, permissions and asset rights.

Adobe also said companies will be able to measure recommendation share across AI platforms, response accuracy and customer engagement on their own websites.

Jennifer Manry, Divisional CIO, Corporate Systems, at Vanguard, said trust remains central as the firm adopts new technology.

Maintaining the trust of our clients is at the centre of how we approach technology at Vanguard, especially in an AI-driven future,” said Manry.

“As we advance our technology to give investors the best chance for investment success, we’re embedding AI into client-facing experiences in ways that are both highly personal and deeply responsible.”

Adobe is also working with Amazon, Microsoft, Anthropic, OpenAI and Nvidia to ensure the tools work across multiple platforms.

The launch of Adobe AI marketing tools comes as software companies face stronger competition from fast-growing AI firms offering automation tools for business users.

Adobe Launches Photoshop for iPhone, Making Creativity on the Go Possible https://techeconomy.ng/adobe-launches-photoshop-for-iphone/ https://techeconomy.ng/adobe-launches-photoshop-for-iphone/#respond Tue, 25 Feb 2025 16:09:52 +0000 https://techeconomy.ng/?p=153767 Adobe has officially launched a mobile version of its popular design software, Photoshop, making it available for iPhone users.

The company also confirmed that an Android version is in the works and will be released later this year.

The app provides both free and premium features, allowing users to edit images with tools similar to those found in the desktop version, such as layering and masking.

Designed with a user-friendly interface, the mobile app also integrates with Photoshop on the web for those who subscribe to the premium plan, which costs $7.99 per month. Existing Photoshop subscribers will have access to the mobile version at no additional cost.

With this expansion, Adobe aims to attract a younger, mobile-first audience that primarily creates content on their smartphones. “We spent a lot of time talking to creatives and creators, especially the new generation of creators who are very comfortable with phones, and tried to understand their unique use cases on mobile devices,” said Shambhavi Kadam, senior director of Product Management at Adobe Photoshop.

And we took that feedback and built it into the product to make sure that it worked really well for these users.”

The app includes essential Photoshop tools such as selections, layers, and masks. Free users can also access AI-powered features like the “Spot Healing Brush” for quick image retouching and “Tap Select” to remove, recolour, or replace parts of an image. Additionally, they can use generative AI tools, including “Generative Fill” and “Generative Expand,” powered by Adobe Firefly.

Premium subscribers will gain access to advanced features like “Object Select” for precise selections, “Magic Wand” for isolating elements, and “Content-Aware Fill” for seamless background adjustments. They can also use over 20,000 fonts and import additional typefaces to enhance their designs.

The introduction of Photoshop for iPhone places Adobe in direct competition with popular mobile editing apps such as Snapseed, Picsart, and Canva. It also benefits existing Photoshop users by enabling seamless editing across devices, from mobile to desktop.

Demand for creative tools that work on the go and mobile content creation is increasing, hence, the need for Adobe’s expansion. This ensures that users have access to professional-grade editing tools without being tied to a desktop setup. Photoshop for iPhone is now available for download on the Apple App Store.

Adobe Rolls Out Firefly AI-Powered Video Creation and Editing Tool https://techeconomy.ng/adobe-rolls-out-firefly-ai-powered-video-creation-and-editing-tool/ https://techeconomy.ng/adobe-rolls-out-firefly-ai-powered-video-creation-and-editing-tool/#respond Tue, 15 Oct 2024 12:14:01 +0000 https://techeconomy.ng/?p=145468 Adobe has introduced a new feature within its video editing software, aimed at providing video creators with advanced tools to enhance their production process.

Adobe Firefly Video Model, which has been under development since earlier this year, is now available through a limited release.

This model is designed to assist users in expanding footage and generating videos from images and text-based inputs, significantly reducing the need for reshoots or complex editing in certain cases.

One of the features, called Generative Extend, has been rolled out in beta form for Adobe’s Premiere Pro users. This tool enables editors to extend the length of a clip by up to two seconds, a solution targeted at fixing minor errors such as awkward movements or eye-line adjustments in a scene.

While this is not intended for large-scale corrections, it provides a practical alternative to reshooting short sequences. In addition to visual content, the tool can also extend sound effects and background audio, though its limitations include the inability to process spoken dialogue or music.

The company has also launched two web-based tools: Text-to-Video and Image-to-Video, both of which are now accessible in beta form. These tools allow users to generate short video clips either from descriptive text or by providing an image alongside a prompt.

The resulting clips can mimic various styles such as live-action footage, 3D animation, or stop-motion. While these features provide creative flexibility, the maximum video length is capped at five seconds, and the quality currently peaks at 720p resolution.

Unlike some of its competitors in the industry, Adobe has focused on ensuring that its Firefly model is built on legally obtained data. This makes Adobe’s tools commercially viable for users, avoiding the legal issues that have surrounded other platforms accused of using unauthorised video sources for training their models.

The ability to use these tools in commercial projects may be a key draw for many users, particularly as issues regarding intellectual property continue to emerge within the video generation industry.

Another aspect of the Firefly Video Model is the inclusion of Content Credentials, a feature that allows creators to embed information about the ownership and production process of their content. This could provide transparency in projects where synthetic video content is used, clarifying the role of AI-assisted editing and potentially preventing future copyright disputes.

The technology is still in a relatively early stage. Videos produced through Firefly’s tools are still limited in length and resolution, and public access is yet to be confirmed.

US Sues Adobe for Allegedly Misleading Consumers About Subscription Plans https://techeconomy.ng/us-sues-adobe-for-allegedly-misleading-consumers-about-subscription-plans/ https://techeconomy.ng/us-sues-adobe-for-allegedly-misleading-consumers-about-subscription-plans/#respond Tue, 18 Jun 2024 07:47:24 +0000 https://techeconomy.ng/?p=134316 The United States Department of Justice filed a civil lawsuit against software giant Adobe Inc., along with two of its executives, Maninder Sawhney and David Wadhwani.

The lawsuit alleges that Adobe has been systematically misleading consumers about the true costs and cancellation terms of its software subscription plans, specifically the Annual Paid Monthly (APM) option.

According to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Adobe has been using deceptive tactics to push consumers towards the APM plan without adequately disclosing important information.

During enrollment, Adobe hides material terms of its APM plan in fine print and behind option textboxes and hyperlinks, proving disclosures that are designed to go unnoticed and that most consumers never see,” according to the complaint. “Adobe then deters cancellations by employing an onerous and complicated cancellation process.”

The government accuses Adobe of hiding the one-year commitment and sturdy early termination fees (ETF) within fine print or inconspicuous hyperlinks during the enrollment process.

This lack of transparency has resulted in many consumers unknowingly signing up for year-long subscriptions they may not have intended, and then being hit with unexpected fees if they try to cancel early.

The lawsuit further alleges that Adobe has made cancelling a subscription a deliberately complex and frustrating process.

The cancellation process is said to involve multiple pages with unnecessary steps, potentially discouraging consumers from following through and leaving them locked into unwanted subscriptions.

The Department of Justice maintains that these practices violate the Federal Trade Commission Act (FTC Act) and the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act (ROSCA), which prohibit unfair or deceptive business practices and require clear disclosure of material terms in online transactions.

Adobe trapped customers into year-long subscriptions through hidden early termination fees and numerous cancellation hurdles,” FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection director Samuel Levine said in a statement. “Americans are tired of companies hiding the ball during subscription signup and then putting up roadblocks when they try to cancel. The FTC will continue working to protect Americans from these illegal business practices.”

The lawsuit seeks a permanent injunction to stop Adobe’s deceptive practices, along with monetary damages and civil penalties for past violations. Additionally, the US is requesting relief for consumers who were harmed, such as refunds or cancellation of ETF charges.

Adobe has denied the allegations and has stated that they will fight the lawsuit. The company claims its subscription terms are clear and that it offers a variety of plan options to meet customer needs.

Our priority is to always ensure our customers have a positive experience,” Dana Rao, the company’s general counsel, said in a statement. “We are transparent with the terms and conditions of our subscription agreements and have a simple cancellation process.”

You Can Now Use Photoshop on Web, as Adobe Offers Streamlined Editing, AI-Powered Tools https://techeconomy.ng/you-can-now-use-photoshop-on-web-as-adobe-offers-streamlined-editing-ai-powered-tools/ https://techeconomy.ng/you-can-now-use-photoshop-on-web-as-adobe-offers-streamlined-editing-ai-powered-tools/#respond Thu, 28 Sep 2023 13:04:05 +0000 https://techeconomy.ng/?p=114377 Adobe Photoshop web-based version, which has been in beta for nearly two years, is now officially available to users.

This version of Adobe Photoshop offers a simplified yet powerful online platform for photo editing.

Key features of Photoshop on the web include the integration of Adobe’s Firefly generative AI model, which powers tools like Generative Fill and Generative Expand. These tools allow users to manipulate images using text-based descriptions in over 100 languages while maintaining the original image’s lighting and perspective, making image editing more accessible and efficient.

The user interface has been revamped to provide a more user-friendly experience. It introduces the Contextual Task Bar, a feature that suggests the most relevant steps to take in your editing workflow. This feature, previously available in the desktop version, helps streamline the editing process for both beginners and seasoned professionals.

In terms of tool organization, tools that share similar workflows, such as those used for object selection and image retouching, have been grouped together on the toolbar. This organization enhances the software’s usability. However, users who prefer the classic desktop interface can disable this feature.

Collaboration is a significant aspect of Photoshop on the web. Users can invite others to collaborate on projects, making it easier for teams to work on editing tasks together. Additionally, those without an active Photoshop subscription can view and comment on files shared through the platform.

It’s important to note that Photoshop on the web is not available for free, as Adobe had previously considered for a freemium version. Instead, it is included as part of paid Photoshop plans, which start at $9.99 per month. Adobe has stated that it does not have immediate plans for a freemium offering. New users can explore Photoshop on the web through free interactive demos and in-app tutorials on Adobe’s website before committing to a subscription.

Adobe also plans to continue enhancing the web version by adding more desktop features like the patch tool, pen tool, smart object support, polygonal lasso, and more in the near future. This move aims to make the web-based Photoshop experience more feature-rich and versatile.
