That voice was Oluwaseun Dania, managing director of Alpha-Geek Technologies, who stood not just as an entrepreneur, but as a messenger for 1.4 billion Africans, the youngest workforce on the planet.

“Africa cannot be sidelined in the AI revolution,” Dania declared, his words cutting through the weight of the occasion. “This is not just about GDP. It is about lives uplifted, voices amplified, and destinies reshaped.”

A Bridge Between Innovation and Equity

For Dania, the future of artificial intelligence is not just about coding powerful algorithms or scaling billion-dollar companies. It is about ensuring that technology is a ladder, not a wall. He spoke of Africa as a continent that has already proven itself a fast adopter of mobile-first technology, and now stands ready to be a co-creator in the AI era.

But he didn’t shy away from the shadows. As an expert in information security, he warned of deepfakes that corrode trust, biased algorithms that entrench inequality, and unchecked data monopolies that threaten to widen the global digital divide.

Nigeria’s Bold Step

Pointing to home, Dania highlighted Nigeria’s National AI Strategy launched in April 2025 under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister Bosun Tijani. This blueprint, developed with NAIRS and NCAIR, is more than a policy, it is a commitment to train 70% of Nigeria’s youth in AI skills by 2030, expand the digital economy by 27% annually, and inject $15 billion into GDP growth.

“This is how Africa leapfrogs,” Dania noted. “From fintech revolutions to digital economies built on trust, we are ready to shape the tools of tomorrow.”

Three Pillars for a Just AI Future

Dania urged that AI governance must not be left to Silicon Valley or Geneva boardrooms alone. Instead, he put forward three priorities:

1. Equitable Access – Open-source frameworks and funding to empower innovators in the Global South, not exploit them.
2. Ethical Safeguards – African-led standards for bias audits and privacy, grounded in ubuntu, the principle of shared humanity.
3. Resilient Infrastructure – AI-driven solutions for development, from predicting pandemics to optimizing energy use, while fortifying against misuse.

A Covenant for the Future

Closing his address, Dania did not mince words:

“This dialogue must be more than talk. It must be a covenant, for a fair, inclusive, and ethical AI future. Africa is ready to co-create, not merely comply.”

As the applause echoed in the UN chamber, it was clear: the AI revolution cannot be complete without Africa at the table, not as a guest, but as a partner.

Dania’s first accolade was being named one of the Top 50 Most Valuable Personalities (MVP) in Nigeria’s Digital Economy.

This recognition, organized annually by communicationsWeek Media, celebrates visionary leaders shaping Nigeria’s digital landscape and acknowledges those whose effort, foresight, innovation, and resilience are making Nigeria’s digital economy continue to thrive.

The awards continued at the Africa’s Beacon of ICT (ABoICT) Merit and Leadership Awards 2025 on Saturday.

At the award ceremony, Dania was honored with the Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and Alpha-Geek Technologies received the Excellence Award in Innovative IT Solutions Provider.

In a brief citation, ABoICT award organizer, Communication Week Media Limited lauded Alpha-Geek Technologies for its significant contributions to fostering local innovations and its overall impact on the growth of Nigeria’s digital economy.

Dania himself was recognized for his significant investments in a wide range of sectors, including Technology, Agriculture, Oil & Gas, Entertainment, Civil Society, and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Reacting in a brief statement he signed, Dania said:

Considered the most respected annual event in Nigeria’s ICT industry, the Awards ceremony recognized Alpha-Geek’s outstanding contributions. Mr. Dania, a serial entrepreneur and investor, was commended for his exceptional role in shaping the nation’s digital landscape.

“A distinguished selection committee,” announced Mr. Ken Nwogbo, founder of event organizer Nigerian CommunicationsWeek, “acknowledged your consistent delivery of innovative ICT solutions and services fostering a thriving digital economy. We are honored to present you with the Digital Entrepreneur of the Year 2024 award.”

Adding to the night’s triumphs, Alpha-Geek Technologies also secured the coveted IT Solutions and Consulting Company of the Year award.

Reacting to the double win, Oluwaseun, who also heads Tradefada, a leading digital currency exchange platform, reiterated Alpha-Geek’s unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional IT solutions that empower both businesses and individuals.

The honour was bestowed on Oluwaseun Dania, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Tradefada, a leading digital currency exchange in Lagos, South-West Nigeria at a One Day Industry Colloquium/Lunch/Recognition Ceremony, which KnowHow Media organized.

According to Olusegun Oruame, vice-chairman of KnowHow Media, Oluwaseun was ranked among the 50 Most Valuable Personalities (MVPs) in Nigeria’s Digital Economy through an impartial selection process that focuses on his innovation and vision, which have introduced groundbreaking innovations, transformative ideas and visionary strategies in the digital space.

Other criteria for breaking into the ranking include Oluwaseun’s impact and influence, which have made a tangible difference, positively impacting the digital economy, society and inspiring others.

“We look at your leadership skills, which we believe have contributed significantly to the growth and development of Nigeria’s digital ecosystem. Thus, we have singled out individuals like you whose contributions exhibit sustainability, scalability and a vision for the future of the digital economy in Nigeria,” said Oruame while handling the recognition plaque to Seun.
