With its theme In Search of Incredible, ASUS will showcase its critically acclaimed portfolio of AI PCs designed to support the country’s national digital economy agenda.

ASUS will showcase its strong lineup of commercial devices that includes the ExpertBook series and workstation PCs at the exhibition. Visitors will get a chance to try out the recently released ExpertBook Ultra (B9406), the company’s flagship device that weighs less than a kilogram and measures 10.9 mm thin.

Designed for next-generation professionals, the B9406 features up to 50 TOPS NPU, which enables it to perform AI tasks on-device without affecting the performance or battery life.

All of this is packed in a lightweight device that also features robust durability and enterprise-grade security.

Other devices in the ExpertBook series, the B5405, P5405, as well as the P440 All-in-One and the P500 Expert Centre Mini Tower, will be on the stand.

ASUS will also highlight its AI-driven solutions that enhance productivity, such as AI ExpertMeet, a powerful AI-powered collaboration tool that helps simplify meetings with real-time transcriptions and summaries.

Building on national initiatives such as the Kenya AI Strategy 2025-2030, which positions the region as a hub for AI research, ASUS will support its ambitions with innovative AI-ready solutions.

The company has designed its entire commercial portfolio focusing on key factors that help drive digital transformation priorities, such as AI-first design, cloud-ready devices and sustainability.

Attendees can visit ASUS’s booth at Hall 2, Stand B45, to experience their latest products.

According to the latest report from Omdia, global tablet shipments grew by just 0.1 per cent year-on-year to 37 million units in Q1 2026, reflecting a largely stagnant market, with Chromebooks mostly affected.

Although some regions, particularly Latin America as well as the Middle East and Africa, recorded stronger performance, analysts noted that much of the growth was driven by inventory build-up rather than actual end-user demand.

The report also noted that tablet shipments declined sequentially during the quarter, in line with normal seasonal trends, further highlighting the market’s weak momentum.

“Heading into 2026, tablets have been relegated in importance for vendors across margins, volume, and overall value,” said Himani Mukka, research manager at Omdia. “In this supply-constrained environment, consumers and vendors alike are being more deliberate about which devices to prioritize. PC vendors are focusing on notebooks and desktops, while those operating across both smartphones and tablets are gravitating toward smartphones due to their outsized contribution to overall business.”

“Within the tablet space, vendors’ focus in 2026 will be skewed toward the premium segment, where demand has held up better relative to the mass market,” added Mukka. “The volume tier is more challenged: promotional headroom is limited as there is little room to absorb further price increases, and tablets lack a structural refresh catalyst comparable to the Windows 10 end-of-support cycle in the PC market. The outlook for the second half of 2026 is expected to remain cautious, with volume market segments facing the greatest pressure on both shipment volume and value.”

“Within the PC segment, Chromebooks are currently the most impacted category, with volumes declining significantly,” said Kieren Jessop, principal analyst at Omdia. “Production indicators point to a weak near-term outlook, and education-related deployments are increasingly being deferred until market conditions stabilize. Ongoing supply constraints are also expected to delay the second phase of Japan’s GIGA School Program 2.0. While the first phase – extended from end-2024 through end-2025 – was completed without major disruption, the current supply environment is likely to introduce delays in the next phase.”

The global tablet market delivered a flat performance year on year in Q1 2026. Among leading vendors, Huawei and Lenovo recorded the strongest growth, with shipments increasing 28% and 20% year on year, respectively.

Apple retained its top position, shipping 14.8 million units and growing 7.9% year on year, supported by strong performance from the iPad Air.

Samsung ranked second, but faced pricing pressures, with shipments declining 12.6% year on year to 5.8 million units. Huawei placed third, shipping 3.2 million units and growing 28% year on year, as it continues to steadily expand its presence across Asia Pacific.

Supported by both shipment pull-in and education deployments, Lenovo followed with 3.0 million units, up 20% year on year. Xiaomi rounded out the top five, shipping 2.6 million units, reflecting a 13.6% year-on-year decline in the quarter.

All major Chromebook vendors faced challenges in Q1. Lenovo, which ranked first and was a key participant in Japan’s GIGA School Program alongside its subsidiary NEC, saw shipments decline 11.2% year on year to 1.5 million units as the first phase of deployments concluded.

HP ranked second, shipping 1.0 million units, down 15.3% year on year. Acer placed third with 937K units, managing a relatively smaller decline supported by stable shipments in North America and increased shipments into APAC.

Dell experienced the steepest decline among the top five vendors, with shipments falling 28.3% year-on-year to 413K units.

ASUS, another key participant in Japan’s GIGA School Program 2.0, was the only vendor to record growth in Q1, with shipments rising 3.5% year on year to 406K units, accounting for a 9% market share.

The high impact gathering brought together partners, stakeholders, and technology leaders for an immersive showcase of ASUS’ latest innovations, with key distributor TD Africa in attendance.

The summit offered hands-on access to ASUS’ expanding portfolio, designed for a wide spectrum of users, from students and professionals to creators and enterprise customers.

Partners experienced newly introduced devices from Consumer Electronics Show (CES), including the Zenbook Duo with its dual-screen productivity design, the ultra-lightweight Zenbook A14, and ASUS’ versatile All-in-One systems.

Beyond product innovation, the event highlighted ASUS’ support ecosystem, including Perfect Warranty, MyASUS, and ASUS Premium Care, alongside the ASUS Gold Partner Rebate Program, all designed to strengthen partner confidence and long-term value delivery.

Speaking at the event, Chioma Chimere, coordinating managing director at TD Africa, emphasised the strategic importance of such engagements in driving adoption and strengthening the technology value chain.

And just when you thought they had hit a ceiling, ASUS decided that you deserve all three in one device–a gaming tablet that thinks it’s a laptop but secretly wants to be a desktop.

The ROG Flow Z13 (2025), a machine that refuses to be labelled. With the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor and Radeon 8060S Graphics, this device handles AAA gaming, AI tasks, and content creation while still being light enough to toss into a backpack. 

It’s ASUS’ equivalent of giving a sports car wings and telling it to fly. After a week of testing this machine to its limits, here’s what I found.

Design – A Practical Build

ASUS took inspiration from the 20th-century Space Race, carving the high-density aluminium alloy chassis with precision CNC machining. 

This results in a sleek and durable design that weighs only 1.2kg without the keyboard and 1.59kg with it. The kickstand opens to 170 degrees, enabling flexible usage, whether in gaming, working, or binge-watching Netflix.

A unique RGB-lit window at the back reveals the machine’s internals, adding to its futuristic look. Unlike traditional laptops, the keyboard is detachable, giving it an ultra-portable form factor. 

However, for those who are used to a full-size mechanical keyboard, the smaller keycaps and touchpad might take some getting used to.

Connectivity

Despite its compact size, the Flow Z13 doesn’t skimp on ports. You get:

• 2x USB-C (USB4 + DP 2.1 + PD 3.0)
• 1x USB 3.2 Type-A
• 1x HDMI 2.1
• 1x microSD Card Reader (UHS-II)
• 1x 3.5mm Combo Audio Jack

For a device this small, the dual USB4 ports supporting Thunderbolt eGPUs (like the XG Mobile external GPU) is a massive plus for serious gamers and creators.

Performance and Portability

The ROG Flow Z13 GZ302EA I tested was powered by the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395, a 16-core, 32-thread processor capable of handling AAA gaming, creative workloads, and AI tasks. 

Combined with the Radeon 8060S Graphics, this device delivers gaming performance comparable to some dedicated GPUs while consuming less power.

Memory & Storage

ASUS built the Z13 with 32GB LPDDR5X 8000 on board RAM and 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD storage. A unique feature is the unified memory design, which allows the system to dynamically allocate RAM between the CPU and GPU, optimising performance based on the task at hand.

Gaming Performance

With integrated Radeon 8060S Graphics, the Flow Z13 isn’t just for casual gaming—it’s built for serious play. I tested a range of games, and here’s how it performed:

While the performance is commendable for an integrated GPU, users looking for higher FPS and ray tracing might want to pair it with an external GPU (XG Mobile).

AI & Content Creation

Thanks to AMD’s XDNA AI Engine, the Z13 can handle AI tasks like running local LLMs (large language models) with DeepSeek R1. It also breezes through video editing, music production, and 3D rendering, making it a solid choice for content creators.

Cooling – Smart and Efficient

One of the biggest challenges with high-performance tablets is cooling, and ASUS has tackled this with:

• A stainless steel & copper vapor chamber
• 2nd Gen Arc Flow Fans
• Ultra-thin cooling fins

These allow the CPU and GPU to stay cool even under full load. While the device does get warm during long gaming sessions, it never became uncomfortably hot, and the fans remained quieter than most gaming laptops.

Display – 180Hz of Smoothness

The 13.4-inch 2.5K ROG Nebula Display is one of the interesting features of the Flow Z13.

• 180Hz refresh rate ensures ultra-smooth gameplay
• 3ms response time reduces motion blur
• Pantone Validated & Dolby Vision support for colour accuracy
• 500-nit brightness makes it usable outdoors

Whether for gaming, video editing, or general productivity, the 16:10 aspect ratio touchscreen is a joy to use. The Gorilla Glass DXC coating also helps reduce glare while improving durability.

Battery Life – Better, But Still Needs Work

The 70Wh battery in the 2025 model is a noticeable improvement over the previous model’s 56Wh unit. However, given its powerful hardware, you shouldn’t expect all-day battery life.

The 200W fast charger gets the battery from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes, and USB-C PD charging means you can use a portable power bank on the go.

Audio – Surprisingly Good for a Tablet

The quad-speaker setup with Dolby Atmos produces clear and immersive audio. It’s loud enough for gaming and movies, and the AI noise-cancelling microphone ensures crystal-clear voice calls. While bass isn’t as deep as full-sized laptops, the overall sound quality is better than most 13-inch devices.

“I must admit, when we compare ourselves with top competitors in the market, we still manage to achieve the number three position in the consumer industry in Nigeria, according to the IDC 2022.
