The company is launching with local payments, tailored content, and a full suite of AI-powered tools to help individuals and small businesses build a credible online presence quickly and affordably.

Nigeria has one of the largest and fastest-growing digital economies in Africa. In the first half of 2025 alone, the digital economy contributed approximately ₦7 trillion to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), accounting for over 14% of the nation’s total economic output.

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) indicates that the country possesses in excess of 41 million SMEs.

Yet many entrepreneurs still face the same obstacles: slow loading speeds, unreliable uptime, unclear pricing, and support that doesn’t solve problems.

Hostinger aims to address these barriers by introducing transparent pricing, Naira-ready payment options, 24/7 support, and AI-powered tools that make it easier to start and grow online.

“Nigeria is an important milestone for us. Our goal is simple – give people fast, reliable, and fair tools so they can build and grow online with confidence. Our integrated suite of AI-powered products makes it easier for small business owners and creators to get online in minutes and stay focused on what matters: building their business. Everything we do starts with understanding our clients’ needs and helping them succeed online faster and more easily,” says Eiviltas Paraščiakas, head of communications at Hostinger.

AI tools powering online success

Nigerian customers now have access to Hostinger’s full product ecosystem, including Hostinger Website Builder, to create professional websites, write content, generate images, and handle SEO tasks, Hostinger VPS, WordPress hosting, and new AI tools such as Hostinger Reach, an AI-powered email marketing platform, and Hostinger Horizons, an AI website and web app and website builder that allows entrepreneurs to quickly launch and test ideas without technical expertise.

To make technologies even more accessible, Hostinger introduced Kodee more than two years ago, an AI agent designed to help users build and grow online faster. Today, Kodee can act on command, migrating websites, finding and registering domains, writing blog posts, and managing WooCommerce products – all instantly and 24/7. It now supports more than 350 actions, helping users handle tasks that once required technical skills or extra time – with new capabilities added to Kodee every day.

In September 2025 alone, Kodee handled 855,000 conversations, fully resolving 76% of them without human help – up from 50% at the start of 2025.

This improvement allows Hostinger teams to focus on complex, high-value interactions while making it easier for customers to get started and succeed online. That same month, Kodee saved over €750,000, projecting to annual savings of more than €9 million. Greater efficiency on our side translates into more value for customers – affordable prices, more useful features, and faster, safer service.

With its launch in Nigeria, Hostinger is introducing a clear promise: hosting that is fast to set up, simple to use, and fair in both pricing and support.

Many Nigerian entrepreneurs rely on their websites to build trust – whether they are creating business websites, landing pages, portfolios, or online stores, and Hostinger aims to make this experience straightforward from the first click.

AI-powered tools also help creators launch ideas quickly, reducing friction for new businesses and freelancers entering the online market.

Hostinger serves more than 4 million users in over 150 countries. It was ranked second in the Financial Times & Statista Long-term Growth Champions: Europe 2026 report and has appeared in the FT 1000 list of Europe’s fastest-growing companies for six consecutive years. Hostinger’s team consists of around 900 curious and high-spirited professionals.

Top Seven Costliest Domain Names in History and their Monthly Traffic revealed https://techeconomy.ng/top-seven-costliest-domain-names-in-history-and-their-monthly-traffic-revealed/ https://techeconomy.ng/top-seven-costliest-domain-names-in-history-and-their-monthly-traffic-revealed/#respond Sat, 18 Feb 2023 12:49:28 +0000 https://techeconomy.ng/?p=96158
  • Most expensive domain name ever currently receives 88,000 visitors per month
  • Third costliest domain name has no registered monthly traffic
  • Top seven sites cost a combined $109 million
  • How much is a good website name worth? People and companies have paid hundreds of millions of dollars for specific domain names – but is it always worth the return on investment?

A new study by web hosting provider Hostinger has investigated the top seven costliest domain names ever, to see how the sites are doing now, what traffic they receive and whether the outlay was worth it.

    1. Voice.com

    Cost: $30 million in 2019

    Current monthly traffic: 88.8k

The voice.com website describes Voice as “a team of technologists, artists and curators using the transformative power of NFTs to make digital art collectable.”

The company bought the domain name in June 2019 from enterprise analytics and software company MicroStrategy, but the $30 million investment doesn’t appeared to have delivered much return so far – Voice.com’s monthly traffic according to SimilarWeb currently stands at around 88,800.

    2. 360.com

    Cost: $17 million in 2015

    Current monthly traffic: 23.9 million

360.com belongs to the Chinese internet security company 360 Security Technology Inc, and currently receives 23.9million monthly visitors, which ranks it as the 154th biggest website in China. The domain name was bought from Vodafone in February 2015 for $17 million

    3. NFTs.com

    Cost: $15 million in 2022

Current monthly traffic: data not available

NFTs.com is one of the most recent sales in the top ten, after it was purchased in August 2022 for $15 million. The site currently contains very little information, but says it is “powered by DigitalArtists.com Marketplace”.

Despite the large price tag, there isn’t enough info for SimilarWeb to estimate its traffic, indicating that very few people are visiting the site.

    4. Sex.com

    Cost: $13million in 2010

    Current monthly traffic: 64 million

This domain name was sold in November 2010 from Escom to Clover Holdings after it won an auction.

The provocative name receives more traffic than the rest of the top five sites combined, with 64 million visitors each month, and it was recently announced that the name is on sale once more, with minimum bids of $20 million.

    5. Fund.com

    Cost: $12 million in 2008

    Current monthly traffic: 293k

Describing itself as “Your #1 source for financial information”, Fund.com was reportedly sold for $12 million in 2008, although some are skeptical of the figure. It has since been sold again in 2019, and currently sees around 293,000 monthly visitors.

    6. Hotels.com

    Cost: $11 million in 2001

    Current monthly traffic: 44.5 million

This is the oldest sale to make the list, and when adjusted for inflation, the $11 million paid for Hotels.com in 2001 is around $18.4 million in 2023. The site receives the second most monthly traffic in the list, with around 44.5 million visitors

    7. Tesla.com

    Cost: $11million in 2014

    Current monthly traffic: 16.9 million

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said that it took 10 years to buy the Tesla.com domain name, eventually securing it from Silicon Valley engineer Stuart Grossman for around $11 million dollars.

Today the site receives nearly 17 million monthly visitors, and the company’s market cap is around $630 billion.

Commenting on the study, a spokesperson for Hostinger said: “It’s fascinating to see how much money has exchanged hands for specific domain names – the cost of the seven names in the list adds up to more than $100 million. For multi-billion-dollar companies, the outlay is relatively small, especially if it secures your presence on the web, strengthens your brand and provides a good stream of traffic to your site. However as this study shows, spending millions of dollars on the domain name doesn’t guarantee millions of website visitors.”

The study was conducted by Hostinger, a web hosting provider on a mission to bring success to everyone who goes online. It is dedicated to constantly improving server technology, providing professional support, and making the web hosting experience seamless.
