Details of the upcoming Lenovo IFA showcase, including Project Pivo, have surfaced ahead of schedule, following fresh leaks from expert leaker, Evan Blass.

The information points to a mix of experimental concepts and ready-to-ship devices, implying the company is preparing one of its most commendable line-ups in years.

The most eye-catching reveal is a prototype Lenovo laptop codenamed Project Pivo. Unlike traditional notebooks, the device features a rotating display that can move between landscape and portrait orientations.

The idea is straightforward but potentially useful, especially for coders and anyone working with mobile or vertical content.

Analysts say its simplicity makes it more likely to reach consumers than Lenovo’s earlier concepts, such as the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 with a rollable screen, which launched briefly before being discontinued.

Lenovo is also expected to officially debut the Legion Go 2, a second-generation handheld gaming device first teased at CES. According to the leaks, it will ship with an AMD Ryzen 22 Extreme processor, an 8.8-inch 1600p OLED display running at 144Hz, detachable controllers with an improved grip, and storage options of up to 2TB.

A 74Wh battery is expected to give it an edge in longevity, placing it in direct competition with devices like ASUS’s ROG Ally X and the next Steam Deck, rumoured to launch in 2028.

IFA will also see Lenovo expand its tablet and smartphone offerings. The Yoga Tab Plus, reportedly featuring a 12.7-inch 3K OLED display, will introduce AI-driven tools for note-taking and transcription. Alongside it, Motorola phones and a new Moto AI ecosystem of earbuds, trackers and connected devices are expected to appear.

Finally, the leaks hint at a slate of more experimental products. These include a Yoga Solar PC powered partly by sunlight, a laptop with a 3D screen, a vertical folding display, and even one with extendable “wings.”

While such designs may never leave the showroom floor, they reflect Lenovo’s current focus on staying ahead in concept innovation.

The company has not commented on the leaks, but all eyes will now turn to Berlin next week, when IFA 2025 opens and Lenovo confirms just how much of the speculation becomes reality.

Equipment manufacturer, Lenovo, has disclosed several vendor vulnerabilities in some of its products, which it said could lead to information disclosure, privilege escalation, and denial of service.

The vulnerabilities primarily affect Lenovo Products (Desktop, Desktop-All in One, Hyperscale, Lenovo Notebook, Smart Office, Storage, ThinkAgile, ThinkPad, ThinkServer, ThinkStation, and ThinkSystem).

The Nigerian Communications Commission’s Computer Security Incident Response Team (NCC-CSIRT), in its recent advisory, rated the probability of the vulnerability as high with an equally high damage potential. It, therefore, urged users of affected products to update their firmware.

The advisory cited the Lenovo report, first published in the second week of this month, indicating that the vulnerabilities are caused by flaws in the System Management Interrupt (SMI) Set BIOS Password SMI Handler, other systems used to configure platform settings over Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), and a buffer overflow flaw in WMI SMI Handler.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerabilities could allow an authenticated local attacker to bypass security restrictions, gain elevated privileges and execute arbitrary code on the targeted system.

The attacker could also send a specially crafted request to the targeted user to gain sensitive information, which could result in unauthorized Information disclosure, privilege escalation and denial of service on the targeted system.

According to NCC-CSIRT, the solution to addressing the vulnerabilities is for users to update their system firmware to the newer version(s) indicated for their product model.

The CSIRT is the telecom sector’s cyber security incidence centre set up by the NCC to focus on incidents in the telecom sector and as they may affect telecom consumers and citizens at large.

The CSIRT also works collaboratively with the Nigeria Computer Emergency Response Team (ngCERT), established by the Federal Government to reduce the volume of future computer risk incidents by preparing, protecting, and securing Nigerian cyberspace to forestall attacks, and problems or related events.
