The company also confirmed that an Android version is in the works and will be released later this year.

The app provides both free and premium features, allowing users to edit images with tools similar to those found in the desktop version, such as layering and masking.

Designed with a user-friendly interface, the mobile app also integrates with Photoshop on the web for those who subscribe to the premium plan, which costs $7.99 per month. Existing Photoshop subscribers will have access to the mobile version at no additional cost.

With this expansion, Adobe aims to attract a younger, mobile-first audience that primarily creates content on their smartphones. “We spent a lot of time talking to creatives and creators, especially the new generation of creators who are very comfortable with phones, and tried to understand their unique use cases on mobile devices,” said Shambhavi Kadam, senior director of Product Management at Adobe Photoshop.

And we took that feedback and built it into the product to make sure that it worked really well for these users.”

The app includes essential Photoshop tools such as selections, layers, and masks. Free users can also access AI-powered features like the “Spot Healing Brush” for quick image retouching and “Tap Select” to remove, recolour, or replace parts of an image. Additionally, they can use generative AI tools, including “Generative Fill” and “Generative Expand,” powered by Adobe Firefly.

Premium subscribers will gain access to advanced features like “Object Select” for precise selections, “Magic Wand” for isolating elements, and “Content-Aware Fill” for seamless background adjustments. They can also use over 20,000 fonts and import additional typefaces to enhance their designs.

The introduction of Photoshop for iPhone places Adobe in direct competition with popular mobile editing apps such as Snapseed, Picsart, and Canva. It also benefits existing Photoshop users by enabling seamless editing across devices, from mobile to desktop.

Demand for creative tools that work on the go and mobile content creation is increasing, hence, the need for Adobe’s expansion. This ensures that users have access to professional-grade editing tools without being tied to a desktop setup. Photoshop for iPhone is now available for download on the Apple App Store.

You Can Now Use Photoshop on Web, as Adobe Offers Streamlined Editing, AI-Powered Tools https://techeconomy.ng/you-can-now-use-photoshop-on-web-as-adobe-offers-streamlined-editing-ai-powered-tools/ https://techeconomy.ng/you-can-now-use-photoshop-on-web-as-adobe-offers-streamlined-editing-ai-powered-tools/#respond Thu, 28 Sep 2023 13:04:05 +0000 https://techeconomy.ng/?p=114377 Adobe Photoshop web-based version, which has been in beta for nearly two years, is now officially available to users.

This version of Adobe Photoshop offers a simplified yet powerful online platform for photo editing.

Key features of Photoshop on the web include the integration of Adobe’s Firefly generative AI model, which powers tools like Generative Fill and Generative Expand. These tools allow users to manipulate images using text-based descriptions in over 100 languages while maintaining the original image’s lighting and perspective, making image editing more accessible and efficient.

The user interface has been revamped to provide a more user-friendly experience. It introduces the Contextual Task Bar, a feature that suggests the most relevant steps to take in your editing workflow. This feature, previously available in the desktop version, helps streamline the editing process for both beginners and seasoned professionals.

In terms of tool organization, tools that share similar workflows, such as those used for object selection and image retouching, have been grouped together on the toolbar. This organization enhances the software’s usability. However, users who prefer the classic desktop interface can disable this feature.

Collaboration is a significant aspect of Photoshop on the web. Users can invite others to collaborate on projects, making it easier for teams to work on editing tasks together. Additionally, those without an active Photoshop subscription can view and comment on files shared through the platform.

It’s important to note that Photoshop on the web is not available for free, as Adobe had previously considered for a freemium version. Instead, it is included as part of paid Photoshop plans, which start at $9.99 per month. Adobe has stated that it does not have immediate plans for a freemium offering. New users can explore Photoshop on the web through free interactive demos and in-app tutorials on Adobe’s website before committing to a subscription.

Adobe also plans to continue enhancing the web version by adding more desktop features like the patch tool, pen tool, smart object support, polygonal lasso, and more in the near future. This move aims to make the web-based Photoshop experience more feature-rich and versatile.
