This allows authors to create audiobooks from their existing ebooks using natural-sounding text-to-speech technology with voices that are based on human narrators.

This feature makes the creation of audiobooks more affordable, and more accessible.

Authors at Publiseer who want to turn their ebooks into audiobooks can simply notify Publiseer, after which, their ebook is sent to Apple, who turns it into an audiobook and makes it available on the Apple Books store for sale.

Approximately, it takes Apple two months to process this request and make the audiobook available in their store.

For new authors joining Publiseer, their ebooks are automatically sent to Apple to turn into an audiobook, except as stated otherwise by the author.

“Apple is a wonderful place for authors to garner new readers. It offers a very competitive royalty percentage, fosters book promotion, and stands out as one of the renowned retail bookstores that includes the book description in its search results, thus offering authors significant control over the search visibility of their books,” says Chidi Nwaogu, one of the founders of Publiseer.

“Since the inception of Publiseer, we’ve distributed our books to Apple Books, and so far, we have recorded impressive results from the sales and exposure it has offered our authors.”

Active to creators in 8 African countries, Publiseer has helped over 9,000 African content creators distribute more than 19,000 digital content; garnering about 85 million in downloads and streams.

In 2023, Publiseer was recognized by Ernst & Young as one of the 100 “most meaningful businesses in the world”.

Nigeria’s Publiseer Partners with Repro Books, Expands to Asian Market https://techeconomy.ng/nigerias-publiseer-partners-with-repro-books-expands-to-asian-market/ https://techeconomy.ng/nigerias-publiseer-partners-with-repro-books-expands-to-asian-market/#respond Mon, 21 Aug 2023 02:03:44 +0000 https://techeconomy.ng/?p=110956 Starting from the 24th of August, Nigerian startup Publiseer will be adding Repro Books to its book distribution channel.

The digital distribution company has since 2021 been constantly expanding its content distribution channel to include new markets; starting from Europe, and now to the South East Asian market.

Repro Books is Publiseer’s newest addition to cater to its significant English content market.

“We’ve got great news for our authors. As part of our continued commitment to helping the books of our authors reach an even wider audience, we have added Repro Books to our increasingly growing list of retail bookstores,” says Chidi Nwaogu, one of the founders of Publiseer. “Repro Books is one of India’s leading names in book publishing, which means that our authors have an additional potential audience of nearly two billion readers.”

“At Publiseer, we understand the importance of book distribution for our independent authors and publishers. This is why we have been expanding our distribution channel since 2021 to increase the profits of our creators. We believe that the more partners we distribute to, the better their chances to generate more revenue and thus more profit,” says Dapo Ogundipe, Head of Content Review and Distribution. “Our team will continuously work to expand our distribution network in the coming months.”

Repro Books is a renowned Indian publishing company with excellent content solutions and publishing services. “Publiseer is collaborating with Repro Books to build on our solution to address the challenges of modern content distribution. We chose Repro Books because India is one of the most prominent English content markets,” Chidi says.

In 2019, the Indian publishing industry was valued at over 6 billion US dollars, and it has substantially grown ever since. Forecasts show that the Indian publishing market will continuously grow to nearly 10 billion US dollars in value by 2024. “This will certainly pave the way for new opportunities for our independent authors and publishers across the eight African countries we serve,” Dapo says.

Backed by Institut Français, the Goethe Institut, the Jack Ma Foundation, and Alibaba Foundation, Publiseer is a digital platform that helps independent and underserved African writers, musicians, filmmakers, and video game developers, typically those from low-income and disadvantaged communities, to earn above the minimum wage and live above the poverty line from the sales of their creative works.

Publiseer achieves this by helping them distribute, protect, promote, and monetize their creative works worldwide, at no charge, with just a single click, and the digital platform shares in the revenue it generates for these creators, which in turn goes back into helping more creators in Africa.

Publiseer Introduces ‘Advance’ for Creators to Receive Royalties Early https://techeconomy.ng/publiseer-introduces-advance-for-creators-to-receive-royalties-early/ https://techeconomy.ng/publiseer-introduces-advance-for-creators-to-receive-royalties-early/#respond Thu, 10 Aug 2023 23:10:00 +0000 https://techeconomy.ng/?p=110181 Digital distribution company, Publiseer, has introduced a new program for its creators called Publiseer Advance. Creators part of the top ten-percent earners on the platform can apply for this program.

This will help top-earning creators on the platform request and receive royalties earlier and before the stores send them in.

“Being an independent creator can be very expensive as they bear all the financial burden. Since our inception, we have made digital distribution seamless and free to our creators, giving our creators enough time to focus on creating their content, while we distribute, market, and monetize them on their behalf,” says Chidi Nwaogu, CEO at Publiseer.

“However, we understand that there are fluctuations in monthly earnings, and this can make these creators struggle financially to support their careers. This is why we have designed and launched the Publiseer Advance program to allow our creators to focus on doing what they love the most, which is to create and never have to worry about the finances.”

Publiseer will support their creators with the funds that they need to invest in the creation of their content so that they don’t have to wait for their new content to take off and start making money. These creators can spend the advance on anything they choose, including on promotion.

“Publiseer will work closely with its top ten-percent earning creators to agree on a suitable advance amount. The return payment will be automatically allocated from the monthly earnings of the creator until the advance amount is completely repaid,” says Ifeanyi Obiania, a Content Review Manager at Publiseer.

“Once the advance amount is repaid, the creator is free to request another advance or to receive their monthly royalty payments as usual. The Publiseer Advance Program is currently open to a select number of creators, and these creators must have been on the Publiseer platform for a minimum of two years.”

When Publiseer accepts a creator on its platform, Publiseer fine-tunes their creative works to industry standard, so that the creator stands a chance to compete on a global scale. Then Publiseer distributes it to its over 400 well-established partner stores so that the creator is easily discovered.

Publiseer also protects this content from illegal distribution and intellectual property theft, so the creator truly owns the content. The creators can monitor their sales performance on Publiseer’s centralized dashboard, and receive their royalties via African-tailored payment methods, such as into a local bank account or through a mobile money wallet.

Both companies, which are members of the International Publishing Distribution Association, will work closely together to foster Publiseer’s mission, which is to “promote the creativity of the African people to the rest of the world.”

This partnership was initiated by the Chief Operating Officer of StreetLib, Marco Croella.

Before this partnership, Publiseer has published and distributed nearly 100 book titles written by Africans to over 400 global and well-established book platforms across 100 countries, which includes Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, Google Play Books and Apple iBooks. In this partnership, StreetLib is adding over 70 more online digital stores to Publiseer’s distribution channels.

The new additions include bookstores like Leamos, Perubookstore, Nineva, Artcivix and Nubleer.  This partnership was further overseen by Ose Okojie of Publiseer, and Lucia Zitelli of StreetLib.

“I thought there could be a chance to work together,” said Marco Croella. “I’m quite excited to work together,” he continued. “This is our first international partnership and we hope it’s the first of many,” said Chidi Nwaogu. “It’s a pleasure,” Lucia said.

This news comes with several others from the company. Just recently, Publiseer was nominated for The Top 100 SMEs in Nigeria Award, organized by Union Bank of Nigeria and Connect Nigeria.

Also, the Nigerian publishing company was shortlisted for the African Young Entrepreneurs Empowerment Nigeria’s (AYEEN) 2018 entrepreneurship program and the Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) entrepreneurial program.

This comes four months after Publiseer’s acceptance into Accelerate Labs acceleration program, organized by Microsoft Nigeria and The Future Project.
