Bolt has donated ₦5 million to SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria after completing its “Rides That Care” campaign, which linked ride activity to support for vulnerable children and families in Nigeria.

During the campaign, which ran from May 27 to 31 and coincided with Children’s Day, a share of earnings from completed trips went into the donation pool. Riders did not pay extra, and there was no separate step required from them.

Bolt explained that the idea was to make participation simple by tying everyday travel to a social cause. The campaign was built around routine trips, with contributions collected automatically from ride activity over the five days.

The company also confirmed that drivers received their full earnings throughout the period. No deductions were made from driver pay to fund the initiative.

Speaking on the donation, Teddy Appa-Dankyi, senior general manager, West Africa at Bolt, said: “The response to the Rides That Care campaign demonstrates the impact that can be created when everyday actions are connected to a meaningful purpose.

We are delighted to contribute five million to SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria and support the important work they do for vulnerable children and families. This initiative reflects our belief that mobility platforms can play a role beyond transportation by creating positive impact within the communities we serve.”

The funds from Bolt will go towards SOS Children’s Villages Nigeria programmes that focus on child welfare, family support, and access to care for children in need.

Bolt described the campaign as part of its community work, using its platform to support social initiatives alongside its transport services.

Thousands of trips contributed to the final donation figure over the five-day period.
