  • Prepare Your Child for the Future of Work
  • A study by McKinsey & Company found that by 2030, up to 800 million jobs worldwide could be displaced by automation and artificial intelligence.

Jobs in fields such as computer science, engineering, and healthcare are expected to experience the most growth in the coming years. These jobs require a strong foundation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

Other reports show that workers in STEM occupations earn higher wages than workers in non-STEM occupations.

With the rapid growth of STEAM industries, it’s essential that young people acquire the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the digital age. The STEAM Fun Fest is a unique opportunity for children to learn about the exciting possibilities in STEAM fields, discover their interests and gain hands-on experience.

“STEM fields are rapidly growing, and it’s important that we prepare the next generation with the skills they need to succeed in the digital age,” said Jadesola Adedeji, co-convener at STEAM Fun Fest. “The festival provides an exciting and engaging environment for children to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics and learn about the opportunities available in these fields.”

This year’s STEAM Fun Fest will be held on July 22nd in Lagos and will feature career talks, hands-on STEAM activities – science experiments, game design, virtual and augmented reality, 3D modelling, esports, robotics, and more. The event will feature interactive exhibits and demonstrations from leading companies and organisations in the STEAM industries, as well as talks from industry experts and educators.

The theme for the 2023 STEAM Fun Fest is “Empowering the next generation for the future of work.” The event aims to equip your child with crucial digital skills necessary for the future while providing a fun and engaging learning experience. This year’s event promises to be even more exciting, with the introduction of two competitions leading up to the main event, the ESPORTS and STEAM competitions.

Parents, guardians and schools are encouraged to bring their children to the event to help them develop essential digital skills. “Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to inspire and engage the next generation of innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders,” said Wale Ogunjobi, co-convener at STEAM Fun Fest.

The STEAM Fun Fest esports competition is for secondary school students in Nigeria and for the overall purpose of entertainment, socialising and development.

The competition will run from March to July 2022, learn more here

The STEAM Competition is an exciting opportunity for Nigerian children aged 6-15 in primary and secondary schools to explore the world of STEAM and get to showcase their creativity, problem-solving skills, and uncover their potential in the STEAM fields. The theme for this year’s competition is focused on Recycling, Environmental Sustainability, and Renewable Energy and participants stand the chance to win prizes worth Two million. Submission of applications for the STEAM Competition will begin on March 6th, 2023, learn more here. Tickets for the STEAM Fun Fest can be purchased online or at the venue. Top EdTech Companies Partners to Bring Children the First of its Kind in Africa – STEAM Fun Fest 2022 https://techeconomy.ng/top-edtech-companies-partners-to-bring-children-the-first-of-its-kind-in-africa-steam-fun-fest-2022/ https://techeconomy.ng/top-edtech-companies-partners-to-bring-children-the-first-of-its-kind-in-africa-steam-fun-fest-2022/#comments Thu, 16 Jun 2022 17:13:00 +0000 https://techeconomy.ng/?p=76687 The importance of STEM to future economic prosperity and innovation cannot be underestimated. Young children with a strong foundation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics will go on to play an integral role in our nation’s global competitiveness and economic stability.

In 2021, the maiden virtual STEAM Fun Fest was launched over 1,300 children in attendance from within and outside Nigeria.

It is mind boggling, as having over 1000 children at a virtual event is a feat in need of a space in the Guinness book of records! The feedback and engagement proved that it was a much-needed event.

The organisers were overwhelmed with appreciation from children and parents for taking the initiative to meet and exceed their needs.

This year, 4 award winning edtech companies partners to promote development of digital skills in children through the largest STEAM Fun Fest in Africa scheduled for 23rd of July 2022 at the Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The theme, “STEAM From Classroom to the Real World”, will be exploring various aspects of STEAM including Robotics, Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Coding, Animations, Graphics Design, Games and Fun Science experiments.  The aim of this event is to “spark” a love for STEAM education (STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math).

Titi Adewusi, one of the organisers of the STEAM Fun Fest said that  Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics—or STEAM—help children develop the diverse set of problem-solving and digital skills they will need for the future of work.

STEAM is the foundation for modern-day economic growth and equipping young children with required skills is critical if Nigeria wants to fully reap the benefits of a digital economy.

The speakers for this year includes Tele Aina (Meta), Nkem Begho (FutureSoft) ,Oluwaseun Hamzat (Kibo School), Tolu Olowofoyeku (Kugali Media),Kunle Adenmosun (Insights), Oremeyi Akah (Interswitch),Golibe Eze-Echesi (54Gene), Emmanuel Oyelakin (Esports Association), Tomide Odusote, Hugo Obi (Maliyo Games ), Martha Alade (WITIN), Michelle Ijomah (Agnes Health), Mary Jane (digital illustrator and robotics engineer) and many more.

The event also showed true collaboration at work with four Edtech Companies (Jadesola Adedeji of STEM-MET, Uchenna Onwuamaegbu-Ugwu of Edufun Technik, Titi Adewusi of 9ijakids and Wale Ogunjobi of SabiTeach) and the Lagos STEAM UP initiative chaired by Adetola Salau the Senior Special Assistant on Education to the Lagos State Governor  coming together to organize this record-breaking event.

Plans are already in the works as this year STEAM Funfest will be bigger and better. It is a FREE event and open to all schools, parents and children. Children outside Lagos can still be part of the event as the event will be streamed live.
