The newly launched centres are in Ikota along the Lekki axis of Lagos State and at ICAPS on Egbu Road in Owerri, Imo State.

This expansion brings Teesas Education’s total number of JAMB tutorial centres to four, strengthening its footprint and enabling the edTech company to reach more students across Nigeria.

Osayi Izedonmwen, Chairman and Founder, Teesas Education, described the expansion as a continuation of the company’s mission to improve UTME performance nationwide.

“Over the past few years, we have been immensely concerned about the consistently low pass rates in the UTME. Our journey began with a simple question: why were so many bright students underperforming? Through extensive research, we discovered that most students were relying on multiple, inconsistent preparation materials that left critical gaps in their understanding. That insight spurred us to build a unified system, one that combines structured teaching, technology-enabled practice, and data-driven feedback.

We tested our model for the UTME tutorial classes in 2024, and it yielded a 97 per cent pass rate. That success gave us the confidence to roll out the UTME preparation programme fully.

By 2025, our students achieved a 98 per cent pass rate, proving that when you give students the right tools, they can achieve phenomenal results.

This expansion is in continuation of our mission to close the learning gap and ensure that every student, regardless of background or location, has a real chance to excel in the UTME.”

To ensure accessibility for all students, Teesas Education also offers virtual learning options. Students who are unable to attend physical classes can join the JAMB classes online, gaining access to the same expert tutors, weekly assessments, and structured learning system available at physical centres.

This hybrid approach allows Teesas Education to support students across different locations in Nigeria.

A key feature of Teesas Learning Centres is the mandatory pre-assessment test for all new students, followed by weekly computer-based mock exams designed to track progress and strengthen exam readiness.

Sixteen-year-old Osemudiamen Ahabue, one of Teesas’ standout performers in the 2025 UTME, shared his experience.

He explained that Teesas covered the syllabus quickly, helping him identify his weak spots and prompting him to revisit those topics and study them harder.

In addition, the mock tests that closely simulated the UTME environment gave him a vivid understanding of what to expect on exam day and boosted his confidence.

Another student, Araoluwa David Ashiru, a sixteen-year-old student of Whitesands School, who scored 349 in the last UTME, described the Teesas approach as “an almost foolproof way to score above 300 in JAMB.”

“Teesas helped me achieve 349 by teaching me time management and covering a huge syllabus in a short period. The CBTs were very thorough, and after the tests, I would review the areas in which I performed poorly and study them more thoroughly. If you want to score above 300, come to Teesas,” he said.

As part of its commitment to improving exam readiness, Teesas Education also offers its Matric service,  a comprehensive digital resource that gives students access to 40 years of past JAMB questions.

The platform enables learners to practise extensively, identify patterns, and build confidence through repeated exposure to real exam formats.

This service complements both the physical and virtual classes, ensuring continuous learning and revision.

With its expanded network of learning centres, robust digital tools, virtual learning options, and a proven track record of high performance, Teesas Education continues to position itself as a leading force in transforming exam preparation and improving learning outcomes for Nigerian students.

Teesas Education Tackles UTME, WAEC Failure with Matric https://techeconomy.ng/teesas-education-tackles-utme-waec-failure-with-matric/ https://techeconomy.ng/teesas-education-tackles-utme-waec-failure-with-matric/#comments Tue, 18 Mar 2025 12:16:12 +0000 https://techeconomy.ng/?p=155105 Committed to making a measurable impact in Nigeria’s education sector, Teesas Education, an education transformation company, has launched an innovative e-learning platform called Matric to address the significant failure rate in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and the Senior Secondary School Leaving Examination (WAEC).

Teesas Matric, which is available on the Teesas Education App, gives users access to 40 years of past UTME and WAEC questions and over 5,000 solution-based video tutorials covering frequently asked questions.

Osayi Izedonmwen, founder and chairman of Teesas Education said,

“As an impact-driven organisation, Teesas was concerned about the UTME and WAEC abysmal results and decided to create a product to address it.

“During our research, we discovered that students use multiple websites or preparation materials for UTME and WAEC. This is both costly and time-consuming.

“In response, we developed Matric, a compilation of over 40 years of UTME and WAEC past questions and comprehensive step-by-step, solution-based video tutorials on how to approach each problem or topic using several proven techniques,” he said.’

Izedonmwen added that the company tested the e-learning platform during the 2024 UTME and achieved a pass rate of 97 per cent.

This gave Teesas Education the confidence to roll out the service ahead of the 2025 UTME examinations. To access Matric, students need to download the upgraded Teesas Education app from the Google Play store and iOS store, select “Matric,” and choose their preferred subscription plan: Premium+, Premium or Basic.

Matric Premium+ gives subscribers access to UTME and WAEC tutorial videos, practice questions, and timed mock tests for N28,500.

Matric Premium provides access to either UTME or WAEC tutorial videos, practice questions, and timed mock tests for N15,000. Matric Basic offers subscribers access to either UTME or WAEC practice questions.

Teesas Education also has technology-enabled hybrid learning centres in Lekki and Ikeja, Lagos which offer real-time computer-based WAEC, UTME and post-UTME practice tests and mock trials. Students who prefer a hybrid learning approach can combine studying at the learning centres with the Matric service on the Teesas Education app.

Teesas Education Advocates for Teaching Leadership, Digital Skills in Schools https://techeconomy.ng/teesas-education-advocates-for-teaching-leadership-digital-skills-in-schools/ https://techeconomy.ng/teesas-education-advocates-for-teaching-leadership-digital-skills-in-schools/#respond Wed, 24 Jul 2024 13:05:58 +0000 https://techeconomy.ng/?p=137984 After the successful Teesas Leader in Me (LIM) program organised by Teesas Education in Lagos last month, the EdTech company has taken its campaign to include leadership, social-emotional and digital skills education in Nigerian schools’ curriculum to Abuja.

The Teesas LIM program in Abuja brought together owners of leading schools, top school managers and stakeholders in the education sector in the north to discuss strategies to prepare children for work in the future.

The keynote speaker, Folashade Adefisayo, an academic and former Commissioner of Education, Lagos State, said that the Teesas LIM program includes topics like personal leadership which teaches children to take responsibility, leading to less disciplinary problems.

She also highlighted other topics covered by the program like “win-win solutions” and “sharpen the saw.”

“IQ gets you a job, but emotional intelligence helps you keep it. Emotional intelligence can be taught and mastered because habits are things we continually do,” she said.

Mr Osayi Izedonmwen, founder and chairman of Teesas Education, said the Teesas LIM is a whole-school transformation program delivered in partnership with FranklinCovey Education, primarily focused on developing leadership and social-emotional skills in learners to make them life-ready and prepare them for work in the future.

“AI and other tools are growing quickly, and you don’t want to build a workforce that is incapable of adding value to the economy. We believe very strongly that this is the right time to start sharpening the saw, by ensuring our learners are equipped with the right digital, leadership, social, and emotional skills that the future-of-work will require,” he said.

Justin Permenter, regional director of FranklinCovey Education said that research suggests that by the year 2050, nearly half of the world’s children under 18 will be on the African continent, so while it would be an exciting time for Africa, it is time for Africa to prepare for that future.

Permenter stated that the model of schools hasn’t changed much in the last 100 years although the 21st century challenges are different.

He added that there’s been a shift from the industrial age to the knowledge age while stating that analytical thinking, creative thinking, technological literacy, empathy and active listening, leadership and social influence are some of the top skills identified by the World Economic Forum Future of Jobs 2023 Report.

Similarly, McKinsey’s Future of Work Skills Report released in 2023 identified 56 foundational skills which can be grouped into four categories: cognitive, interpersonal, self-leadership and digital skills.

“Leader in Me addresses school development in three aspects: culture, leadership and academics. While the ‘7 Habits of Highly Effective People’ is a foundation for the program, it rests on five paradigms namely: leadership, potential, change, motivation and education,” he said.

Speaking during a panel session, Dr Abimbola Ogundere, a global leadership expert, coach and CEO, LAIT Africa emphasised the need to implement social-emotional learning in schools using the Teesas LIM because of the lack of empathy, disrespect, bullying and disregard for authority by some students.

“Children who are not brought up properly cannot be functional adults. Parents must celebrate their children for being empathetic as much as they celebrate them for scoring good grades,” she said.

Another speaker, Mrs Oluwatosin Oladipo, head of Schools at SafeHands Schools stressed the need to instil empathy in children and expressed delight that the Teesas LIM program provides a framework that enables schools to do so.

Ondo Government to Partner Teesas Education in Uplifting Public Schools https://techeconomy.ng/ondo-government-to-partner-teesas-education-in-uplifting-public-schools/ https://techeconomy.ng/ondo-government-to-partner-teesas-education-in-uplifting-public-schools/#respond Wed, 17 Jul 2024 13:59:47 +0000 https://techeconomy.ng/?p=137125 Mr Olaolu Akindolire, the Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, has expressed the state’s readiness to partner with Teesas Education, a pioneering and innovative education technology (EdTech) firm to enhance the standard of education and quality of learners in the state.

Ondo State and Teesas Education

The honourable commissioner stated this while receiving executives of Teesas Education in Akure, the state capital.

Mr Akindolire said Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa’s administration is in a hurry to turn around the education sector and ensure that students across the state get nothing less than the best in terms of quality and qualitative education.

Teesas Education’s proposal is a robust self-funded educational solution that will unlock significant donor funding to transform the academic trajectory of Ondo State public secondary schools.

Mr Osayi Izedonmwen, founder and chairman of Teesas Education, said that his organisation will deploy a fully integrated Education Management System (EMS), curriculum-aligned digital content (videos, eBooks and textbooks) and provide tablets for teachers and students to drive the transformation of public schools in the state.

“The EMS is an integrated system designed to enable consistent lesson delivery, increased interactivity in classrooms, and accountability among teachers and students leading to improved learning outcomes.

“All lesson plans will be standardised and delivered to teachers via the EMS and tablets. Teachers will clock in, check class timetables, take students’ attendance, and access scripted lessons on the EMS. On the other hand, students will receive lesson notes on their tablets and continue their learning journey on the Teesas Education App through access to curriculum-aligned videos and e-books, even outside the school premises.

“Anyone with access to the EMS can instantly see when a teacher arrives at school and the number of students present and absent in each class. At the end of an academic year, if a student performs poorly, the school can tell why based on their attendance and performance in quizzes and assessments,” he said.

Teesas Education is committed to transforming education by empowering learners, educators and institutions with cutting-edge digital solutions that allow access to educational content via mobile and web platforms without internet access.

Teesas Education has evolved to become the only EdTech firm in Africa that can implement education transformation intervention projects at scale as evidenced by its current intervention across sub-nationals in Nigeria and beyond in conjunction with leading Development Finance Institutions.
