The competition, which is sponsored by Airtel Nigeria, was launched in Nigeria in 2016, to discover and groom young talented musicians, positioning them for stardom on a global stage.

The contest had participants go through various stages, with increasing levels of challenge. Beginning with the blind rounds, contestants then proceed to the battle rounds, the knockout phase, and, finally, the live performance shows where the winner emerges.

The Voice Nigeria spanned over 21 weeks of practice, rehearsals, performances, and self-evaluations, before the grand finale at which the young singer Pere Jason was announced the winner of the competition.

Audiences and judges were particularly impressed with his incredible voice and breathtaking stage performances which eventually earned him the highest votes.

Congratulating the winner, Femi Oshinlaja, Airtel Nigeria’s Chief Commercial Officer, applauded Pere for his achievement as the winner of the fourth season, described his success as well-deserved.

“We congratulate Pere Jason on his well-deserved victory and applaud him for demonstrating to Nigerians that he is capable of leading on a global scale. We are also honored to be a part of a platform that enables talented Nigerians to launch their careers abroad while providing thrilling experiences for fans, music enthusiasts, and entertainment enthusiasts all around the nation,”

Oshinlaja said.

Season 4 of ‘The Voice Nigeria’ drew hundreds of thousands of viewers across the country, who watched every week as 12 contestants showcased their talents in a fierce challenge to win the star prize of 15 million naira, a brand new car, and a recording contract with Universal Music.

Celebrity Coaches on this season of The Voice Nigeria were the veteran singers Waje, Praiz, Niyola, and rapper Naeto C.

The debut season of The Voice Africa will be streamlined to millions of Africans via Airtel TV, Free to Air stations (FTAs) and paid channels across 14 countries in Africa.

Seven participants from each of the 14 countries will be selected to participate in the programme, with one of them eventually crowned The Voice Africa.
