Yuletide Season: Bolt Safety Team Shares Four Tips for a Safe Trip

Bolt riders in a joyous mood

As the Yuletide season unfolds, the roads come alive with the joyous movement of people visiting loved ones, attending festive gatherings, and handling end-of-year errands.

The Bolt Safety Team is by every Bolt customer’s side on every ride. Customers can be assured that when they use Bolt, they’re never alone.

The team is on hand day and night to help if needed and they even proactively contact customers if something about their journey seems out of the ordinary.

To support all the hard work the team does day in and day out, The Bolt Safety Team is here to share their top four tips for a safe ride.

1. Check the driver and vehicle:

Once you see your Bolt car approaching, the app says ‘Driver has arrived’, and the car starts to slow down to a stop, you should check the app to ensure the make, model, and registration number of the slowing car match the details in your Bolt app.

After confirming the vehicle’s details, you should check the right person is driving the car. To do this, you can look at the driver’s photo in the app and confirm their name.

If everything matches up, you can safely get into the vehicle and enjoy your trip. However, if the photo, name or any of the details aren’t a match, you can choose to not get into the car.

Instead, you can easily cancel the trip in the Bolt app and select ‘Driver/car did not match the description’ as the reason. You can also follow up with Customer Support, and The Bolt Safety Team will investigate.

2. Keep your trip on the Bolt app:

The team encourages anyone taking a trip with Bolt never to take an offline trip.

If a driver partner asks you to cancel the trip in the Bolt app, but still take the ride, The Bolt Safety Team can no longer track the journey or see who is in the vehicle, and you no longer have access to the in-app Safety Toolkit.

3. Share your live location with a friend:

You can share a link with your family or friends that allows them to track your live location.

Once your driver partner is on thor way to you, you can simply scroll down on your trip information screen, and you’ll see an option to “share ride details” — this can be shared during the trip or as you wait for the driver partner to arrive.

This can be shared with as many people as you like via Email, SMS, WhatsApp and Telegram.

This means your loved ones will also see the vehicle’s make, model, and registration number.

4. Familiarise yourself with our in-app Safety Toolkit:

Safety is Bolt’s top priority, and in the app, you can find a range of safety features that will make your journey more comfortable.

By simply opening the Bolt app during your ride and tapping the Safety icon, you can find all of these features:

  • The in-app Emergency Assist button allows you to quickly and discreetly alert an emergency response team should you need assistance.
  • During the ride, you can use the Record Audio feature to record sound for the duration of your trip. The recording will continue until the trip ends, but it will pause due to any phone calls. Neither you nor the driver will be able to listen to the final recording. It’s only for the ears of The Bolt Safety Team and, if necessary, the emergency services — but only if you choose to share the file with us via Customer Support. If you don’t raise a safety case within the 24 hours following the trip, the recording is automatically deleted from your device.
