Routelink

Routelink, a telecom provider in Nigeria, has recently received the Mobile Virtual Operators’ License (MVNO) from the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC).

This license allows Routelink to operate as a mobile virtual network operator, which means it can provide mobile services by leveraging the existing telecom infrastructure and facilities of major operators in the country.

Routelink already offers advanced switching infrastructure, clearing house, and voice gateway services to major mobile network operators in Nigeria and international partners.

With the MVNO license, they aim to make a significant difference in the market and bridge the gap between the unserved and underserved segments of society.

The introduction of MVNOs in Nigeria is part of the NCC’s efforts to create an enabling environment, generate employment opportunities, foster competition, and provide more choices for telecom consumers.

MVNOs, although they don’t have their wireless network, can offer cell phone plans by utilizing another carrier’s platform for coverage.

The Managing Director of Routelink Group, Mr. Femi Adeoti, expressed excitement about the opportunities in the Nigerian telecom marketplace and their determination to improve the quality of service and foster innovation. Lower costs, more service options, and better quality of service are expected benefits for subscribers as a result of the MVNO license.

Mr. Ikechukwu Nguzo, the Managing Director of Routelink Telecom, believes that the introduction of MVNOs has the potential to stimulate growth in the Nigerian telecom industry. MVNOs can contribute to coverage expansion, provide more innovative services, improve service offerings, and create partnership opportunities for consumers.

The success of MVNOs in Nigeria will depend on various factors such as regulatory policies, infrastructure availability, and market demand.

Globally, MVNOs have gained traction due to the increasing number of mobile phone users, the rise of smartphones and mobile data services, and the demand for flexible and customized mobile services.
