Many users are opting for 5G-enabled phones to keep up with the growing demands of the internet but what are the best 5G phones available in the 2023 market? This will be answered shortly but before that, let’s understand the whole fuss about 5G.
5G is a term that refers to the newest development in cellular network technology. It operates on a specific spectrum of band frequencies categorized into two; the Sub-6 spectrum and the mmWave.
The Sub-6 spectrum are band frequencies below 6GHz also referred to as low or mid frequencies. However, they possess strong penetration capabilities and are effective over a wide area.
The mmWave, on the other hand, is of a higher frequency from 24GHz and above, referred to as the blazing-fast 5G. Capable of incredible speed, the mmWave is nonetheless characterized by low penetration power, with effectiveness limited to a shorter range.
2018 marked the inception of 5G technology; yet, it wasn’t until 2022 that cellular network speed technology gained mainstream recognition, with several phone brands making their debut on the 5G scene that same year. 5G technology with extra speed capacity gives way better browsing, streaming, and gaming experience than the penultimate 4G technology.
Its internet speed of up to 500Mbps can’t be compared with a 4G speed of about 250Mbps. This one hundred percent more upgrade from what we initially called the height of internet speed, makes it worth having.
With this understanding in mind, let’s take a closer look at some of the finest 5G phones available in 2023.
1. Samsung Galaxy S23+
The Samsung S23+ is the best 5G phone in the Android range. It has a very good 5G reception over a wide range of network carriers. The 5G flagship phone has dual SIM compatibility which gives flexibility over different network carriers simultaneously.
The Samsung Galaxy S23+ is regarded as the best 5G phone because it has other complementary features such as its 5000mAh high battery power, impressive display, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 high Processor speed running on the Samsung OneUI 5.1 Android 13 OS which makes its 5G capability more enjoyable. This is an easy choice to make, however, it is quite pricey.

For iOS users, the iPhone 14 is the best 5G phone in its class. With its super durable build and water-resistant feature, this phone can conveniently last over 2 years with one user. Its 5G feature makes it even more convenient to use over a long time as it is already among the early phones on the 5G train.
The iPhone 14 range of phones which includes the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max come with a single SIM tray, however, the current apex iPhones have very reliable wireless connectivity for both Wi-Fi and hotspot tethering among sibling gadgets within the Apple ecosystem. The iPhone 14 phones run on an Apple A16 Bionic Chipset, 128 to 1TB storage, and a 3200/4323mAh Li-Ion battery. Their 6.1/6.7-inch wide OLED displays also make them a good choice for gamers.

Its 1.9-inch OLED cover display screen shows notifications and other useful information while the phone stays as a small square.
However, its sophistication is unveiled in its flipped-up mode, revealing its beautiful 6.7-inch OLED display. The Flip 4’s 5G technology is compatible with mmWave ensuring very high 5G speed on a wide range of network carriers, provided there is good coverage. It also has superfast charging capabilities which make up adequately for its not-so-stellar battery power.

Features such as Call Screening, Hold for Me, and Direct My Call are among the best call features on any smartphone released yet. It’s also worth noting that the Google Pixel 7 is a great choice for a pocket-friendly 5G smartphone in 2023. However, it has a pricier sibling, the Google Pixel 7 Pro which has better camera features, more RAM space, and a larger display screen but the same Sub-6 5G technology performance.

The ASUS ROG Phone 6 which is only compatible with the Sub6 5G technology delivers incredible 5G coverage over multiple network carriers.
Now before you go out looking for one of these 5G-enabled phones, it’s advisable to find out if your area has 5G network coverage before spending your money on these relatively pricey 5G gadgets because many areas do not yet have 5G services enabled on some networks.
However, 5G gadgets function properly on the regular 4G or 3G networks just not with the enhanced 5G speed, so you can own a 5G phone while you wait for the required coverage to reach your area.
