Climate Action Africa has launched Climate Stories 4 Kids, an innovative audio-visual series designed to educate adolescents and young adults across Africa about the profound impacts of climate change and the actionable solutions they can adopt to protect their communities and advocate for a sustainable future.
This pioneering project seeks to reach a minimum of 1 million young minds across the continent, with a cumulative audience reach of 100 million over the next five years.
Climate Stories 4 Kids is designed to engage and empower the next generation through captivating fictional story-lines that blend with real-life environmental issues. Each episode follows a diverse and dynamic group of protagonists, representing various regions and cultures across Africa, as they navigate the challenges posed by climate change and discover innovative ways to mitigate its effects.
Co-founder and Executive Director of Climate Action Africa, Grace Oluchi, emphasized the importance of educating children through animation to encourage climate action and innovation, stating, “Our children are the future stewards of this planet. When we make climate education exciting and accessible, we empower them to take charge of their environmental destiny and become advocates for change. That is exactly what we are doing.
“We call on governments, NGOs, and businesses across the continent to collaborate with us in this important endeavor and ensure that our youths are equipped with the knowledge and motivation needed to address the pressing issue of climate change,“ – urged Grace Oluchi.
The Chief Operating Officer of Climate Action Africa, Alice Eze, added,
“We believe in the power of storytelling to inspire action. Climate Story 4 Kids is not just a series; it’s a movement that will drive measurable change. Our goal is to see at least 10% of our audience and their communities adopting sustainable practices by the end of the five-year period, with a 20% increase in young individuals actively involved in climate advocacy and local initiatives aimed at protecting the environment.”
The first episode of Climate Stories 4 Kids is now available (watch here), and viewers can access it on all of Climate Action Africa’s digital media platforms. With the support of governments and organizations across Africa, Climate Action Africa aims to air the series on radio and TV stations and produce a total of 100 episodes over the next five years, making a lasting impact on climate education and action.
