Google Bard is now Gemini, with streamlined AI offerings and enhanced user accessibility and functionality.
“Our mission with Bard has always been to give you direct access to our AI models, and Gemini represents our most capable family of models,” the tech giant wrote via a blog post. “To reflect this, Bard will now simply be known as Gemini.”
Gemini now encompasses a range of powerful features and capabilities designed to facilitate AI collaboration and productivity.
“You can already chat with Gemini with our Pro 1.0 model in over 40 languages and more than 230 countries and territories.”
One of the key highlights of the Gemini rollout is the introduction of Gemini Advanced, an AI experience powered by the Ultra 1.0 model.
“And now, we’re bringing you two new experiences — Gemini Advanced and a mobile app — to help you easily collaborate with the best of Google AI.”
Gemini Advanced is tailored to tackle highly complex tasks such as coding, logical reasoning, and creative collaboration, helping users to engage in longer, more detailed conversations and pursue ambitious projects with confidence.
Gemini Advanced is now available as part of the new Google One AI Premium Plan, offering subscribers access to the latest AI advancements and exclusive features.
Priced at $19.99/month with a two-month free trial, the AI Premium Plan includes two terabytes of storage, bringing future integration with popular Google services like Gmail and Google Docs.
Google has also taken a commendable approach to AI development, incorporating safety measures and extensive trust and safety checks into the Gemini rollout. These measures include external red-teaming and refinement of the underlying model based on human feedback, ensuring a secure and reliable AI experience for users worldwide.
In addition to Gemini Advanced, Google introduces a new mobile experience for Gemini and Gemini Advanced, with an app for Android and integration into the Google app on iOS.
This mobile experience enables users to access Gemini on the go, offering support for various tasks and functionalities across different platforms and devices.
Gemini is rolling out on Android and iOS phones in the U.S. in English starting today, with availability expanding to more locations and languages in the coming weeks.
