The Propcom+, UK-Aid funded programme focused on climate-resilient and agricultural market development, has expressed interest in contributing to Nigeria’s ongoing reform efforts.

With a focus especially in the agricultural sector, the goal is to boost productivity and improve livelihoods in conflict and climate-affected areas.

The Propcom+ team was led by Fadekemi Abiru, during a meeting with Wale Edun, minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the Economy, on Tuesday.

The focus was on improving agricultural productivity and revitalizing livelihoods in regions affected by conflict and climate change.

Edun emphasized the federal government’s commitment to enhancing inclusive economic growth through strategic investments in agriculture, as he spoke on the government’s contribution and ongoing initiatives in the agricultural sector.

He highlighted that efforts are being collaboratively driven in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the African Development Bank, and other stakeholders to improve smallholder farmer’s access to subsidized inputs and affordable financing. This initiative is aimed at supporting agricultural activities year-round.

Edun also noted the pivotal role of efficiency and transparency, referencing the integration of biometric systems for direct benefit transfers.

He explained how this technology ensures targeted support reaches vulnerable populations effectively, while ongoing initiatives aim to bridge the gap between farmers and viable markets. This ensures that interventions deliver quantifiable value to communities nationwide.
