In a powerful move to combat Kenya’s growing water scarcity and infrastructure inefficiencies, Liquid Intelligent Technologies, has announced a strategic partnership with global smart water solutions provider DropByDrop Water Systems.
This collaboration is set to drive digital transformation in the water sector by leveraging real-time data, Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities, and intelligent monitoring to deliver efficient, sustainable, and equitable water services.
At the heart of the partnership is the integration of Liquid’s advanced IoT infrastructure with DropByDrop’s cloud-based water management platform.
This combined solution enables utilities and municipalities across Kenya to tackle the issue of non-revenue water (NRW), a critical challenge where nearly 47% of distributed water goes unaccounted for, according to recent reports.
With smarter leak detection, accurate metering, and instant usage monitoring, water providers can significantly cut losses and improve revenue recovery, funds that are vital for upgrading water systems and expanding access.
“Water scarcity is a growing challenge across the continent, and managing this precious resource efficiently is more important than ever. Through our partnership with DropByDrop, we’re bringing Liquid’s advanced technology and data-driven solutions to Kenya’s water sector,”
said Neeraj Pradhan, acting CEO, Liquid Kenya.“By helping providers digitise their infrastructure and build smart water ecosystems, we’re empowering them to serve their communities better.”
The new system is more than just a data platform, it’s a smart water ecosystem. Through SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) integration, utilities can remotely monitor and manage their infrastructure.
Geo-asset management ensures system components are tracked and maintained effectively, while remote valve control allows operators to respond quickly to leaks or pressure issues.
The multilingual interface and compatibility with various telecom networks mean wider accessibility, ensuring that users benefit from accurate billing, proactive leak alerts, and fairer service delivery.
“Water is at the heart of life, yet millions still struggle to access it reliably,” said Sergey Khorolsky, International Projects partner at DropByDrop. “Our mission is to harness the power of data and technology to make every drop count. Leveraging Liquid’s infrastructure allows us to scale our platform and create a future where water is managed sustainably and intelligently.”
Beyond operational efficiency, the data generated by the platform also feeds into ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting, supports progress towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and provides insights for urban planning and infrastructure growth.
This partnership underscores Liquid’s ongoing mission to deploy end-to-end digital solutions that address real-world problems, whether it’s connectivity, healthcare, education, or, in this case, access to clean water.
By bringing cutting-edge technology to one of Africa’s most critical sectors, Liquid and DropByDrop are not just improving service delivery, they’re helping to secure the continent’s water future.
