Boda boda riders are essential to Kenya’s economy, yet they often lack formal health and insurance support.

HealthX, Kenya’s leading digital health services provider serving over one million Kenyans since its inception in 2021, recently launched HealthX Boda, a first of its kind mobile solution designed to give the country’s commercial motorbike riders (boda boda riders) affordable, round the clock access to healthcare and essential accident protection.

HealthX Boda is a new, mobile-first solution designed specifically to provide commercial motorbike riders with 24/7 medical access and accident protection for as little as KES 15 (USD 0.12) per day.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to get started and what you get with the plan.

Step 1: Check Eligibility and Availability

  • Target Group: This plan is specifically designed for commercial motorbike (boda boda) riders in Kenya.
  • Platform: Currently, the service is available nationwide through the LittleApp (LittleCab) ride-hailing platform.
  • Future Access: HealthX plans to roll out the service across other major ride-hailing platforms in the near future.

Step 2: Sign Up and Activation

  • Download the App: Access the HealthX Boda feature through the LittleApp or the standalone HealthX app.
  • Affordable Daily Rate: Ensure you have at least KES 15 available for the daily subscription.
  • Join the Community: You will be joining a growing network; over 1,600 riders signed up immediately at launch.

Step 3: Utilize Your Benefits

Once registered, you can access the following “game-changing” features:

Why Use HealthX Boda?

Affordability: At just 15 shillings a day, it is priced to fit the daily earnings of a rider.

Early Care: Accessing doctors digitally allows you to seek medical advice early, preventing minor issues from becoming expensive emergencies.

Livelihood Security: The accident cover and Hospicash ensure that an injury doesn’t result in catastrophic financial loss for your household.

Dignity and Inclusion: This service bridges the gap for a group historically overlooked by traditional insurance and healthcare systems.

“HealthX Boda is a statement that their lives and wellbeing matter,” said Peter Atinga, chief commercial officer at HealthX.
