The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service has announced a further extension of the deadline for filing individual annual income tax returns to April 21, 2026, following a surge in activity on its electronic tax platform.
The extension comes after an earlier shift of the deadline to April 14, 2026, as increasing numbers of taxpayers continue to access the eTax platform to fulfil their statutory obligations.
In a statement, LIRS expressed appreciation to taxpayers for their compliance and commitment, noting that the additional time is intended to ensure that all individuals are able to successfully complete their filings without undue pressure.
Speaking on the development, the Executive Chairman of LIRS, Ayodele Subair, reiterated the agency’s commitment to taxpayer convenience and efficient service delivery.
“This extension reflects our responsiveness to the needs of taxpayers and the growing adoption of our digital platform. We encourage all eligible individuals to take advantage of this final window to file accurately and on time,” he said.
LIRS emphasized that the filing of annual income tax returns remains a statutory obligation for all eligible residents of Lagos State and urged taxpayers not to wait until the last minute.
All filings must be completed exclusively through the official LIRS eTax portal: https://etax.lirs.net.
Taxpayers requiring assistance can visit any LIRS office or reach out via the agency’s official communication channels.
