‘Abia Angel Investment Summit to Unlock Local Capital for High-Growth Startups’
#StartupSouth, in partnership with the Abia Technology & Innovation Network, the Abia State Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation, Innovation Growth Hub and Rindeth Consulting, has announced the Abia Angel Investment Summit, a practical two-day gathering designed to unlock local capital for high-growth startups in Abia State and the broader South-East.
The Summit will hold on June 29 and 30, 2026, in Aba, Abia State, with venue details to be shared after registration.

With the theme “Unlocking Local Capital for High-Growth Startups,” the Summit will bring together business leaders, investors, professionals, founders, ecosystem builders and public-sector stakeholders for practical angel investing education, startup pitch sessions, investor readiness conversations, networking and the formal launch of the Abia Angel Investment Network.
Speaking on the importance of the Summit, Daniel Chinagozi, founding president of Abia Technology & Innovation Network and CEO of Innovation Growth Hub, said Abia has always been a state of enterprise, but the next phase requires more deliberate ecosystem coordination.
“Abia has builders, traders, innovators and entrepreneurs with the ambition to scale beyond their immediate markets. What we need now is a more structured way to connect these founders with informed investors, mentors, networks and market access. The Abia Angel Investment Summit is an important step toward organizing local capital and strengthening the support system around scalable ventures,” Chinagozi said.
The Summit is also expected to support the state’s broader technology and innovation agenda by creating stronger pathways between founders, investors, institutions and the private sector.
According to Dave Kalu, commissioner, Abia State Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation, the initiative aligns with the Ministry’s commitment to enabling innovation-led growth.
“Our goal is to build an environment where technology-driven enterprise can thrive in Abia. This requires collaboration between government, investors, ecosystem leaders and founders. The Abia Angel Investment Summit provides a timely platform to deepen investor education, support promising startups and strengthen Abia’s position as a serious destination for innovation and enterprise,” Kalu said.
As part of the Summit, organizers have also opened a Call for Founders to Pitch. Selected founders will pitch before potential angel investors, business leaders, mentors and ecosystem stakeholders on June 30, 2026.
The pitch opportunity is open to early-stage startups, working MVPs, revenue-generating ventures and tech-enabled businesses, especially those operating in Retail & Commerce Technology, Logistics, Agribusiness, Health, Education and Digital Services.
Founders interested in pitching can apply via bit.ly/AAIS-Pitch. The application deadline is Friday, June 26, 2026.
Somadina Nwaobiala, #StartupSouth Abia Lead, said the pitch session is designed to go beyond visibility and create meaningful investor-founder engagement.
“This is not just about putting founders on stage. It is about helping serious builders access feedback, relationships, mentorship and potential capital. Abia has strong entrepreneurial energy, and this Summit gives us a practical platform to connect that energy with people who can help it scale,” Nwaobiala said.
The Abia Angel Investment Summit is expected to mark a significant step toward building a more organized early-stage investment community in the state, while strengthening Abia’s role in the South-East innovation economy.
