Airtel Africa

In a strategic move to accelerate its digital evolution, Airtel Africa has inked a multi-year, multi-million-dollar partnership with Xtelify, the digital technology arm of Airtel India.

The collaboration is set to reshape Airtel Africa’s customer engagement, field operations, and AI-driven insights across its 14 operational markets on the continent.

At the heart of this transformation is Xtelify’s next-generation software suite, powered by artificial intelligence and built to streamline telecom operations end-to-end.

The platform, unveiled recently by Xtelify, is designed to eliminate operational complexity and unlock intelligent, real-time customer experiences, boosting service quality, reducing churn, and increasing Average Revenue Per User (ARPU).

Under the agreement, Airtel Africa will roll out Xtelify Data Engine, Xtelify Work, and Xtelify IQ:

  • Xtelify IQ will enhance customer experience via secure, omnichannel engagement across touchpoints.

Speaking on the partnership, Jacques Barkhuizen, Group Chief Information Officer at Airtel Africa, said:

“This marks a significant leap toward our vision of building Africa’s digital future. By leveraging Airtel’s AI platforms, already tested at scale in India, we’re simplifying our operations and accelerating personalised digital experiences for our customers. This is Airtel leveraging Airtel, creating synergy that fuels growth, innovation, and long-term value.”

Binod Srivastava, chief business officer for Global Business at Bharti Airtel, echoed the enthusiasm:

“We’re excited to support Airtel Africa on this journey. With our AI-driven Xtelify platform, we’re solving complex challenges like spam and fraud while creating smarter, more secure customer experiences. Together, we’re setting new standards for telecom innovation.”

In a related announcement, Xtelify also launched Airtel Cloud – a sovereign, telco-grade cloud platform originally built to manage over 140 crore transactions per minute for Airtel India.

Now extended to the broader market, the Airtel Cloud offers scalable infrastructure (IaaS), platforms (PaaS), and intelligent connectivity powered by Gen-AI, hosted in sustainable data centers and supported by over 300 certified cloud experts.

With this partnership, Airtel Africa is not just embracing cutting-edge digital tools, it’s leveraging proven platforms to leapfrog into a future of smarter, more inclusive connectivity for millions across the continent.
