The quest for Africa’s next generation of business leaders and change-makers has begun with the launch of the sixth annual Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) Prize Competition.

Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) is a philanthropic initiative of the Jack Ma Foundation, helping African entrepreneurs to thrive. This continent-wide search aims to identify and celebrate 10 exceptional entrepreneurs working to make a positive impact in their local communities.

Over a decade, the program sought to highlight the endeavours of 100 African entrepreneurs while providing them with vital resources, including grant funding, training programs, and comprehensive support to fortify the broader African entrepreneurial industry.

Benefits

Applicants stand the chance to receive the following benefits:

  • Grant Funding: The top 10 finalists will compete for a share of $1.5 million in grant money to fuel the growth and expansion of their ventures.
  • Training Programs: Participants will have access to exclusive entrepreneurship training, mentorship, and learning programs tailored to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Networking Opportunities: Entrepreneurs will join a community of like-minded individuals, business leaders, investors, and mentors, fostering collaboration and growth.
  • Exposure: Finalists will gain global recognition and exposure through media features, documentaries, and the ABH TV show, heightening their stories of passion, resilience, and innovation.

Eligibility

To participate in the program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • ABH welcomes candidates from all 54 African countries, facilitating inclusivity and diversity.
  • The inclusive is open to entrepreneurs of all ages and genders, promoting equal opportunities for all.
  • Entrepreneurs from diverse industries and sectors are eligible
  • ABH is supporting entrepreneurs from all levels of society, ensuring that talent and potential are recognized and supported.

Dr. Ikpeme Neto, CEO and Founder of Wellahealth Technologies and ABH 2023 First Prize Winner, spoke on the impact of participating in the ABH Prize Competition.

I urge fellow entrepreneurs across Africa to seize this extraordinary opportunity to enjoy a wealth of benefits that can catalyze growth and success for your ventures.”

Previous winners and participants have leveraged ABH support to expand their geographic footprint, hire talent, and invest in new products and services, contributing to job creation and economic growth across Africa.

Through financial assistance, training, and networking opportunities, one of the beneficiaries, Wellahealth Technologies experienced significant growth and success.
