Apply: Scale your Sustainable Tourism, Mobility Solutions in East Africa with GrowUp Incubator

In a bid to boost innovative solutions with potential to create substantial environmental and social impact, GrowUp Incubator is supporting social business entrepreneurs in the post-revenue stage.

Social businesses with solutions for sustainable tourism and mobility in East Africa are the focus of the programme. The goal is to ensure that the local tourism and mobility sectors flourish while the natural environment is conserved and local livelihoods are improved.

These social entrepreneurs should be keen on environmental practices that contribute to solving issues such as pollution, soil degradation, biodiversity loss, inequality, poverty and youth unemployment.

  • Trainings on implementing circular solutions and assessing their impact
  • On-demand sessions to guide the implementation of circular strategies
  • Interactive capacity-building Bootcamp
  • Networking opportunities with local and international partners
  • Peer-to-peer support

Eligibility 

Interested applicants should meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Social business entrepreneurs in Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Burundi are eligible to apply
  • Solve a challenge within one or more thematic areas related to sustainable tourism and mobility such as mobility services, travel organisation & booking; accommodation incl. food & beverage on-premises; recreation, excursions, local culture; maintenance, restoration of local tourism assets; public transport
  • Be beyond the experimentation stage
  • Have your product/service on the market for 6 months – 3 years
  • Be legally registered
  • Be able to demonstrate substantial environmental and social impact in the tourism or mobility sectors
  • Be able to demonstrate the capacity to integrate and/or enhance circularity and impact measurement across business operations
  • Be in pre-seed investment but post-revenue stage
  • Must have accumulated sales to date of approximately $10,000 – $25,000 (not necessarily profitable yet)
  • Must have 2-3 people from the team who will participate in the programme
  • Must have regular access to stable internet to participate in the programme
