MTN Foundation 2026 Scholarship

MTN Foundation 2026 Scholarship

Driven by its commitment to advancing academic excellence and empowering the next generation of Nigerian leaders, the MTN Foundation has opened applications for its 2026 Scholarship Programmes.

This year’s application cycle covers the Science and Technology Scholarship (STS) and the Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS), and the introduction of scholarships for medical students.

Medical Scholarships, formally a part of STEM scholarships, will now provide targeted financial support to outstanding medical students in public tertiary institutions and teaching hospitals across Nigeria.

In response to the rising cost of higher education and the country’s evolving economic realities, 400 successful applicants (now including 100 medical students) will receive an annual scholarship award of ₦300,000.

The funding is structured to support tuition, textbooks, and living expenses, enabling recipients to focus fully on their academic pursuits without financial strain.

Commenting on the programme, Executive Director of the MTN Foundation, Odunayo Sanya, said:

“This call for applications reinforces our long‑standing commitment to Nigerian youth by providing them with the resources needed to compete and excel globally. Our aim is to empower these bright minds to become the drivers of a technologically advanced Nigeria. At the MTN Foundation, we firmly believe that financial limitations shouldn’t stifle academic potential.”

The 2026 scholarship phase targets eligible 300‑level students enrolled in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines, medical students in their 400-level in public tertiary institutions and teaching hospitals; and blind students in 200‑level and 300‑level courses.

The ₦300,000 scholarship is renewable annually until graduation, subject to the maintenance of a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5 for STS recipients and 2.5 for SBS recipients.

Beyond financial support, scholarship recipients gain access to a comprehensive development platform that includes mentorship, technical training, and employability workshops under the Foundation’s Skill Up initiative.

This holistic approach ensures that recipients are not only academically supported but also equipped with the soft skills required to thrive in an increasingly digital and competitive global economy.

Now in its 15th year, the MTN Foundation Scholarship Programme has remained a cornerstone of the Foundation’s education and youth development initiatives, supporting thousands of students nationwide.

Through this intervention, the Foundation continues to ensure that academic talent is not limited by economic barriers, while contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s socioeconomic development.

Interested applicants can apply now at www.mtn.ng/scholarships/. Applications close on May 31, 2026.
