StarTimes will broadcast (live) the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 edition, Techeconomy can report.

StarTimes offers digital terrestrial television and satellite television services to consumers, and provides technologies to countries and broadcasters that are switching from analogue to digital television.

As of July 2020, StarTimes operates in 30 countries, serving 13 million DVB subscribers and 20 million OTT users.

Football fans in Nigeria were shocked on Wednesday when news emerged that 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) won’t be shown on DStv channels – SuperSport.

The popular Sub-Saharan Africa pay tv service provider, Multichoice, announced they won’t be broadcasting the biennial tournament due to hosting right.

However, StarTimes, is offering recipes to Africans by its intent to showcase the tournament Live.

StarTimes Rwanda tweeted on Thursday thus;

“AFCON 2023 will be live on StarTimes!

“Which team are you supporting to win the title?

“You can watch ALL AFCON matches live on StarTimes sports channels a starting Jan 13!”

“I can tell you we are broadcasting AFCON, but this has not been made official”, the source told Techeconomy.

In order to offer its customers better viewing experience, StarTimes, upgraded all its subscribers in Lagos to its newest T2 decoder for free.

The upgrade was aimed at providing a better viewing experience to its esteemed subscribers.
