Digital Encode Limited, the Lagos-based cybersecurity and governance, risk and compliance (GRC) advisory firm, is celebrating its 23rd anniversary, marking over two decades in Nigeria’s information security industry.
Founded in 2003 by Professor Obadare Peter Adewale, the company has grown into one of Africa’s leading vendor-independent security consulting and integration firms, specialising in the design, management and protection of business-critical networks, telecommunications environments and IT infrastructure.

It says it now serves over 90% of financial institutions and 80% of telecommunications companies in Nigeria, and holds a technical partnership with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Electronic Fraud Forum (CBN-Neff).
“Twenty-three years of doing the work, twenty-three years of excellence, twenty-three years of choosing consistency over shortcuts, this is proof that trust is earned one decision at a time, and over time, those decisions become our reputation.”– Professor Obadare Peter Adewale, Founder and Chief Visionary Officer, Digital Encode Limited
The company said more than 2,000 clients have relied on it over the years for services spanning cybersecurity, PCI DSS compliance, infosec GRC advisory, digital forensics, and vulnerability assessment and penetration testing (VAPT). Its client base cuts across financial services, fintech, telecoms and public sector organisations in Nigeria and beyond.
Digital Encode’s growth has been closely tied to Obadare’s profile as one of Africa’s most credentialed cybersecurity and digital trust leaders.
He holds more than 55 international professional certifications, is a Fellow of the British Computer Society, and was named Forbes Best of Africa Outstanding Digital Trust Leader in 2023.
The company itself won the AfriTECH Excellence Award in Cybersecurity the same year.
The firm has also positioned itself as a vocal industry watchdog, issuing advisories to Nigerian organisations on recurring security weaknesses.
In June, Digital Encode warned that a spate of breaches hitting financial institutions, fintechs and government platforms stemmed less from sophisticated attacks and more from poor security hygiene, exposed cloud storage, leaked API keys and weak access controls.
“We keep raising the bar,” the company said in its anniversary message, thanking clients, partners and staff for 23 years of growth. Digital Encode operates under the tagline “Your Trusted Infosec & GRC Advisor.”
