The Ebonyi State government has launched, EBOCAB, a digitally enabled cab system to render a comfortable and regulated taxi service to the people while ensuring that the state continues to enjoy peace and tranquility.

Speaking at the formal launch, the state Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, explained that the establishment of the EBOCAB is informed by the touting, harassment, theft, and intimidation of commuters by some tricycle riders at the Ebonyi State International Market.

Governor Nwifuru explained that the criminal act necessitated the establishment of the EBOCAB to provide smart and cost-effective transport alternatives to the people.

New Technology

The Governor added that “the cab service uses a telecommunication network to connect users to drivers within the metropolis in less than five minutes.

“The fleet is made up of 60 brand new pick-up vans and 30 units of Sports Utility Vehicles to serve air travelers using the state’s airport.”

The General Manager of EBOCAB, Mr. Henry Okemiri, called on the people to download the mobile app, “EBOCAB,” to enjoy the services.

The Former Minister of Power and Steel, Chief Godwin Ogbaga, thanked the Governor for the initiative, saying the “Citizens of this state can now enter a brand new vehicle with an air conditioner to wherever they are going. To be honest with you, Governor Francis Nwifuru means well for the people of the State. This will go a long way to boost the economy and security of the State since it is regulated and can be tracked as well.”

Mr. Collins Igboke, the State Commissioner for Transportation, called on the general public to welcome the new technology of transportation as it will help to make the State crime-free.
