On Tuesday October 10, 2023, Lawrance Ezeh, the Commissioner for Science and Technology in Enugu State, took a significant step towards bolstering the relationship between the government and the local technology ecosystem.

The commissioner embarked on a tour of various tech companies in the Enugu metropolis, aiming to gain insights into their challenges and explore opportunities for government support to enhance their productivity.

During the tour, Commissioner Lawrance Ezeh shared the vision of the Enugu State Governor, which is to position Enugu as a leader in science and technology while making it the prime destination for investment.

He articulated how this partnership with the tech companies in the region aligns with and reinforces this ambitious goal.

The tech companies visited during the tour included Digital Dreams ICT Academy, Binary Hill, Xend, Greenage Technology, Digital Dreams Hub, and Spark Consult.

The Commissioner’s proactive engagement with these tech enterprises demonstrated the government’s commitment to the growth and development of the local tech ecosystem.

Engr. Chukwudi Edeoga, the founder and CEO of Digital Dreams Limited, received Commissioner Lawrance Ezeh at both Digital Dreams ICT Academy and Digital Dreams Hub. He expressed his gratitude for the government’s outreach, emphasizing that this initiative establishes a sense of belonging in the current administration.

During the visit, Engr. Chukwudi Edeoga provided the Commissioner with a comprehensive overview of the company’s brand products. Notable offerings included:

lengora: An educational platform where individuals can access online courses or upload their courses and earn compensation.

Linkskool: A school administrative platform designed for managing data in online schools.

Gaming Products: Digital Dreams Limited also presented their gaming products, reflecting the versatility and innovation of the local tech ecosystem.

Engineer Kingsley Okereke, Co-founder Greenage Technology took Commissioner Lawrance Ezeh to Greenage Limited’s production room, where they witnessed the assembly of inverters. Additionally, the team explored the facilities where conventional hydrocarbon-powered automobiles are being converted into eco-friendly, solar-powered vehicles.

The Commissioner was deeply impressed by these innovative initiatives, recognizing their potential to make a positive impact on the environment and the state’s technological landscape. He assured Engr. Okereke of the government’s readiness to partner with Greenage Limited in furthering these groundbreaking technologies.

Mrs. Chinyere Otuonye, CEO of Spark Consult, highlighted their commitment to empowering women in the tech industry.

She underscored the importance of supporting women in technology by helping them start businesses and providing access to grants and financial assistance. Spark Consult offers mentorship, training programs, and advocacy campaigns to encourage women’s participation and success in the tech sector.

Mrs. Otuonye’s dedication to fostering gender diversity in tech resonated with the Commissioner’s vision of a thriving and inclusive tech ecosystem in Enugu State.

Commissioner Lawrance Ezeh reiterated the primary objective of his tour, which is to cultivate collaboration between the government and the local tech ecosystem.

By actively listening to the challenges faced by tech companies and working in synergy, this partnership aims to enhance and elevate technology standards within the region.
