Prince Arinze Arum - Enugu State Gaming and Lotto Commission | Conference | Responsible Gaming

Enugu State is set to become the epicenter of Nigeria’s digital betting and gaming conversation as it prepares to host the Enugu Gaming Conference 2026.

Scheduled for July 29 and 30, 2026, at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Enugu, the event organised by Events Arcade Solutions Limited, in partnership with the Enugu State Gaming and Lottery Commission aims to transition the Nigerian gaming industry from a phase of mere scale into an era of structured, technology-driven growth.

Under the theme “Code, Capital and Compliance: Unlocking Nigeria’s iGaming Tech Opportunity,” the conference is positioned as a policy-led platform designed to bridge the gap between regulators, international investors, and local technology providers.

Speaking during an exclusive interview with Techeconomy, Prince Arinze Arum, executive secretary and chief executive officer of the Commission, said that the 2026 conference will move beyond traditional betting discussions to address the full-stack needs of a modern gaming economy.

“Enugu is now the epicenter of gaming in this region in terms of coordination, regulations and adherence to industry standards. Therefore, the 2026 Enugu Gaming Conference is not for mere talks. We are leading state-level regulation such as navigating the post-2024 regulatory landscape where state commissions now lead the sector’s oversight.

“Discussions will also look at a push for indigenous software and hardware solutions to reduce reliance on imported infrastructure, and connecting venture capital with high-growth African gaming startups.

“The African market realities show we need tailored user experience (UX) and payment systems tied to the unique connectivity and financial habits of Nigerian players”, he said.

He added that the EGC 2026 is a cornerstone of Governor Peter Mbah’s vision to grow the state’s GDP from $4.4 billion to $30 billion.

By focusing on iGaming, the state is targeting a sector that is not only a major source of public revenue but also a massive employer of software engineers, data analysts, and cybersecurity experts.

“Nigeria’s gaming industry is evolving beyond scale into structure,” the organizers noted. “This conference is where we define how technology enables compliance and trust, and how sub-national regulation can unlock sustainable growth,” Prince Arum added.

What to Expect

Enugu Gaming Conference (EGC) 2026 will convene regulator-operator roundtables for a direct dialogue on the Enugu State Gaming Laws 2025.

The tech showcase sessions aim at demonstration of real-time KYC, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) tools, and ‘SafePlay’ responsible gaming devices.

There will be a dedicated forum for gaming-tech founders to pitch to global funds.

For the tech ecosystem, this isn’t just about gambling; it’s about Fintech, RegTech, and Cybersecurity.

The iGaming sector is often the first to adopt high-speed payment rails and advanced fraud detection.

By continously hosting this in Enugu, signals the State’s readiness to compete as a specialized tech cluster, moving away from its historical commodity roots toward a knowledge-driven economy.

The Executive Secretary/CEO of the Enugu State Gaming and Lottery Commission, also said that they are open to partnerships and sponsorship opportunities.
