The Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency, with the support of the Nigerian Communications Commission, will commence a pilot telecommunications infrastructure cleanup exercise in Lagos State.

Source at LASIMRA told Techeconomy that the Agency has intensified efforts toward enforcement of regulations against the improper installation of telecommunications cables, fiber optics, and utility infrastructure, which pose safety risks and cause environmental degradation.

The Cleanup Committee of the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) is also mobilising its members for activie participation during the exercise.

Techeconomy gathered that the pilot exercise by LASIMRA and NCC will begin from Emina Crescent Junction, Toyin Street, Lagos, with participating stakeholders expected to converge at the location by 9:00 a.m, on May 12, 2026.

The exercise will involve key industry players, including Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), and Cable Infrastructure Companies, as part of efforts to improve the deployment and management of telecommunications infrastructure across the state.

He explained that the initiative is designed to promote environmental sanitation, enhance public safety, and ensure more orderly deployment of telecom infrastructure within Lagos State.

“The telecommunications industry remains committed to supporting initiatives that preserve the aesthetics of Lagos State while creating a cleaner, safer, and more organized environment for residents and businesses,” Okuneye noted.

Ajibola Olude, executive secretary of ATCON also urged stakeholders and participating operators to cooperate fully in the telecom Infrastructure cleanup to ensure the successful execution of the exercise.
