Anyone scrolling through social media has likely come across content that makes them laugh, nod in agreement, or feel understood.

For Vera Chiamaka, popularly known as Chivera Media on Facebook, this is the essence of her content—creating videos that reflect the humour and relatability of everyday life.

With her unique approach, Chivera has turned her personal experiences into a growing community of followers on Facebook, offering them not just entertainment but a sense of connection.

Chivera’s Facebook journey began like many others, connecting with friends and family. However, her path took a different turn when she embarked on a content creation journey.

“Facebook is the very first social media platform I joined and it has always been my go-to platform for connecting with people and finding things I’m interested in,” she shared.

She was inspired by the success of other creators who used Facebook to build a loyal audience. It led her to share her videos, making her confident in the platform’s ability to support and promote creators like herself.

Her posts are relatable and resonate with her audience, impacting her growth. “My experience on Facebook has been smooth sailing,” Chivera said, reflecting on her rapid growth. “I know I try as much as possible to create good content, but my growth has been surprising even to me!”

Facebook’s algorithm, which tailors content to users’ interests, has worked in her favour, allowing her videos to reach the right people.

“When I log into the platform, my feed is tailored to things I find interesting and that helps me distribute my videos adequately to people who love watching content like mine,” she explained.

“When I log into the platform, my feed is tailored to things I find interesting and that helps me distribute my videos adequately to people who love watching content like mine,” she explained.

A core part of Chivera’s success on Facebook comes from the strong sense of community she has built. Engaging actively with her followers—through comments, messages or posts—has deepened her connection with her audience.

“When I was nominated for an award in a ‘Facebook Category,’ I posted about it on my page and the number of votes I received was overwhelming. It was amazing to see the support of my Facebook community!” she recalled.

While Chivera’s journey has been largely positive, she has also faced challenges, especially early on the platform. “One of the major challenges I had when I started creating content on Facebook was the ‘copyright issue’ where my videos got flagged for using copyrighted music,” she said.

However, by familiarising herself with Facebook’s copyright policies, she was able to avoid those issues and continue creating without setbacks.

As a content creator, Chivera understands the importance of providing value to her audience. “Before creating content, I ask myself, what will my audience gain from watching this content?” she said. This focus on giving her audience something worthwhile has led to a loyal and engaged community that continues to grow.  Through Facebook, she also discovered new passions that have enriched her life. “I once saw a yoga page with meditation and yoga techniques and it was so calming that I found myself watching the videos every day,” she shared.

She went on to practice yoga and meditation herself, finding it especially helpful for stress relief.

Offering some pro-tips to people for other creators who are just starting on Facebook, Chivera said, “Never give up, find a niche, engage with your audience and make sure your content gives value.” Chivera’s content inspires aspiring creators, showing how Facebook can be a powerful platform for sharing humour and building a strong online community.

Facebook is where inspiration meets connection, creating opportunities for people to learn, grow and thrive in their personal and creative pursuits. Whether you’re looking to start a side hustle, find a community that shares your passions, or learn practical tips for everyday life, Facebook makes it possible.

It’s not just about scrolling; it’s about connecting with real people who share your passions, helping you grow your audience, and discovering a world of opportunities—all in one place.
