Globacom Unveils GloShare at KWASU

The Unveiling of GloShare at KWASU

In a bold step towards democratizing digital access in higher education, Nigerian telecom giant Globacom has launched GloShare and the Mobile Community Plan at Kwara State University (KWASU), ushering in a new era of campus-wide connectivity, collaboration, and digital learning.

Held at the university’s main campus in Malete, the launch introduced students and faculty to an innovative learning platform that provides free access to academic materials on the school’s portal, without consuming personal data.

Connecting a Campus, Empowering a Generation

Speaking at the event, Mr. Adewale Adiatu, Enterprise South West Regional head at Globacom, explained how GloShare integrates with the university’s internal systems:

“Through Closed User Group (CUG) lines, every student and staff member at KWASU can now communicate freely and securely. The entire community is now digitally connected, academically and socially.”

Mr. Adeniyi Odejobi, Enterprise National Vertical head, added that multiple Glo network sites have been installed across the KWASU campus to guarantee seamless connectivity and optimal performance of GloShare and the Mobile Community services.

A Milestone Moment for KWASU

For Professor Shaykh Luqman Jimoh, vice chancellor of KWASU, the launch represents more than just a tech rollout, it is a landmark in the university’s mission to create a digitally empowered academic environment.

“This is not just historic, it is a leap into the future. With Globacom’s support, our students are now better equipped for collaborative learning, digital innovation, and academic excellence,” the VC stated.

Students Embrace the Digital Shift

In a moment of gratitude and optimism, Mallam Abdulafeez Babatunde Kewulere, President of the KWASU Students’ Union Government, thanked Globacom for choosing KWASU as the pilot institution for the GloShare initiative.

“This is a big win for students. Now, we can access educational resources for free, stay connected with our lecturers and peers, and fully immerse ourselves in digital learning. We urge every student to make the most of this opportunity.”

GloShare: Blended Learning, Seamless Access

GloShare is part of Globacom’s broader commitment to supporting education and youth empowerment through affordable and inclusive technology.

By removing data costs from the equation, students can now focus more on learning and collaboration, regardless of their financial background.

The Mobile Community Plan also ensures constant, affordable communication within the university, enhancing not only education but also community cohesion.
