Google has launched Pixel Care+, a new device protection plan designed to replace its previous programmes, Google Preferred Care and Fi Device Protection, in the United States.

Existing subscribers will be migrated to the updated plan in the coming months.

Unlike previous models, Pixel Care+ places a stronger emphasis on user convenience and affordability. Customers can make unlimited accidental damage claims, extend their device warranties, and access mechanical damage coverage.

Among the benefits are $0 screen and battery repairs, as well as $0 post-warranty malfunction claims. Repairs will use genuine Google parts, and replacements will be handled with upgraded shipping, including next-day delivery.

In a statement, Google said: “We’re updating our device protection program to include industry-leading perks, like $0 deductibles for the most common repairs, premium support and using genuine Google parts.”

Pixel owners will also have the option of loss and theft protection, along with priority support from Pixel specialists. Claims can be filed online through the Google Store or directly from the new My Pixel App, where users can select their repair location and time.

The programme is available immediately in the U.S. for eligible devices. These include the Pixel 8 and newer models, Pixel Watch 2 and later, Pixel Tablet, and Fitbit devices such as the Ace LTE, Versa 4, Sense 2, Charge 6, and Inspire 3. Customers have up to 60 days from the date of purchase to add Pixel Care+ to their device.

Pricing varies by product, for instance, Pixel Care+ for a Pixel 10 is set at $10 per month or $199 for a two-year plan. The service is being rolled out in partnership with Asurion, a company already well-known for device protection services.

Google stressed that the revamped programme aims to simplify the repair and replacement process. “We’ve improved the claims process so it’s easy and intuitive to get phones fixed or replaced,” the company said.

With Pixel Care+, Google is ensuring users face fewer challenges when their devices break down.
