African web hosting and cloud services company, HOSTAFRICA has acquired GO54, one of Nigeria’s largest web hosting companies with over 100,000 managed domains.

Targeting Nigeria’s growing digital services market while expanding its footprint across the continent, HOSTAFRICA’s acquisition of GO54, formerly known as WhoGoHost, will ensure the provision of cutting-edge digital solutions targeted at African businesses.

Michael Osterloh, CEO of HOSTAFRICA, said: “We are thrilled to welcome GO54 to the HOSTAFRICA family officially. This partnership has been carefully planned with the GO54 team. We are eager to work together to elevate the hosting experience for customers in Nigeria and beyond.”

HOSTAFRICA’s entry into Nigeria began in 2021 with the acquisition of DomainKing.ng. The addition of GO54 will further expand its presence in the country, providing advanced hosting services and scalable solutions to meet the demands of Nigeria’s tech sector.

With GO54’s local expertise and infrastructure integrated into HOSTAFRICA’s network, customers will benefit from enhanced technology, seamless support, and innovative hosting options. This aligns with HOSTAFRICA’s goal to deliver reliable, high-quality services to businesses across Africa.

GO54, which rebranded from WhoGoHost in 2024 to broaden its pan-African expansion, has impacted Nigeria’s web hosting industry since its founding in 2006. The rebranding symbolised a focus on providing online business solutions across Africa’s 54 countries.

Over the years, GO54 has expanded its reach through acquisitions such as iHost Africa and TheExpertHost. In joining forces with HOSTAFRICA, the company aims to make its services more sustainable for both individuals and enterprises.

The acquisition, which received regulatory approval from the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), has been commended as a move that will benefit Nigerian consumers. The FCCPC noted that the investment is expected to ensure local tech talent, improve service quality, and boost online adoption across the country.

HOSTAFRICA’s expansion is part of its vision to create a dominant hosting platform in Africa. With a strong presence already established in South Africa, Kenya, and Nigeria, the company is a thriving trusted partner for businesses seeking reliable digital solutions.

Founded in 2016, HOSTAFRICA is headquartered in Cape Town and is known for its cloud hosting expertise. The company serves over 70,000 customers across Africa, offering services such as website hosting, e-commerce solutions, and virtual private servers.

Fixing its eyes on customer support and innovation, HOSTAFRICA aims to empower businesses at all levels to thrive in the digital space.
