The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Center (NPF-NCCC) has provided useful tips to guide the citizens from the cyber predators.
The security tips will protect you from cybercriminals who specializes in using the National Identification Number (NIN) to register SIM numbers for the sole purpose of committing cybercrime.
According to Sophos, a cyber-security firm, 71% of Nigeria firms were hit with ransomwares in 2021. They also reported that Nigerian businesses paid as much as $706,452 as ransom to cyber-criminal in 2021.
On the other side, Statista projected that the revenue in the Cyber security space would reach $275.90m in 2024, with cyber-solutions dominating the market with a projected market volume of $140.40m in 2024.

- GLO users press 2 (view numbers linked to NIN) and 9mobile users press 4 (to view linked numbers) whilst AIRTEL users press 3 (view linked numbers)
- An SMS will be sent with all numbers linked to your NIN
It is important to note that any phone number linked to your NIN that you do not recognized should be blocked or deleted.
This you can do by visiting the office of your network provider for deactivation. To save yourself from threats from the cyber space, report such to the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime center.
