CMX Connect Festival at Ibadan

On April 20th, 2024, CMX Connect Ibadan hosted the Community Managers Festival, bringing together over 10 leading tech communities in Ibadan.

These included ATC Africa, Ibadan Tech Hub, GDG Ibadan, Polygon Guild Ibadan, Women in Defi, Ibadan Startup Festival, ALX Oyo Community, GDSC Koladaisi University, Ibadan Techies Club, and Tensorflow Ibadan.

The event featured prominent figures shaping the tech ecosystem.

Speakers Shared Insights on Collaboration and Community Building

The festival welcomed several inspiring speakers, including David Adeleke, convener, Ibadan Startup Festival; Balogun Dajuma, convener, Ibadan Tech Expo; Tim Oladoyinbo, Founder, Scoolyn & convener, Ibadan Tech Hub; Ayobami Atolagbe, founder, DemoHub; Sanmi Abiodun, chief operating officer, Wiseki Technologies, and Idris Taiwo, CMO, Cardify.

David Adeleke, the keynote speaker, emphasized the problem-solving nature of tech communities.

Speaking on the topic: ‘Building Products and Talents for Businesses’, he highlighted how businesses collaborate with these communities to identify challenges and leverage technology for solutions.

The Benefits and Responsibilities of Tech Communities

CMX Connect Director and Lead, ATC Africa, Tope James Moses, discussed the value tech communities provide for members (shared interests, communication, social connection) and the expectations for community managers in the Oyo ecosystem.

Beyond Profit: Businesses as Positive Forces

Other speakers, including Oladoyinbo, Atolagbe, Abiodun, and Taiwo, addressed the concept of “Beyond Profit,” exploring the positive impact businesses can have within communities.
