The rapid adoption of internet technology by businesses in Nigeria has led to a significant rise in cyber vulnerabilities, and data breaches.
The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), reports that Nigeria loses $500m to cyber-attacks yearly and ranks 16th in the FBI global cybercrime index.
Intelics Solutions, a Nigerian Information technology company, is playing a pivotal role to assist Nigerian businesses mitigate cyber-attacks and data breaches with secure cloud and data management solutions.
Mr. Satyamohan Yanambaka, Intelics CEO explains, “Primarily, hackers eye stealing critical data and cripple business architecture in exchange for ransom or to commit financial fraud by infiltrating through system weakness.”
Quoting a report by CheckPoint Research’s Threat Intelligence, Mr. Satyamohan mentions that as per the report Nigerian businesses experienced about 2,308 attacks across all sectors weekly in 2021.
Also, in 2022, researchers from Website Planet discovered a data breach on the Plateau State Contributory Health Care Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) caused by the absence of data bucket encryption, which exposed about 75,000 users’ data.
At the core, the adoption of remote & hybrid work structures, migrating to cloud storage, and application/network vulnerabilities are significant factors hackers exploit.
