The leading eCommerce giant in Africa, Jumia has raised the alarm over the fake recruitment messages on WhatsApp purported to have been created by the company.

In an email titled “Public Alert on Fake Recruitment,” sent to customers, Jumia denied sending broadcast messages on recruiting a hiring manager.

“Our attention has been drawn to a message being circulated specifically via WhatsApp, of a ‘hiring manager at Jumia’, inviting people to apply for part-time employment at Jumia.

“We wish to state that this information is entirely false and misleading and should therefore be ignored by the public.

We denounce our association with this message and any further messages which may be dispersed to the public of a similar nature.
