Kenya is on a path to becoming one of the leading hubs for international business process outsourcing (BPO) operations in Africa, with a major investment by CCI Global.
The pan-African outsourcing firm recently launched a state-of-the-art call center in Tatu City, a special economic zone near Nairobi. This five-story facility is a $50 million investment in the Kenyan BPO industry and is expected to create over 5,000 new jobs for Kenyans, enhancing inclusion in the local workforce.
CCI Global has partnered with organizations like CareerBox Africa to support unemployed youth, particularly women, with the digital skills needed to thrive in the BPO sector.
Rishi Jatania, CEO of CCI Kenya, said this a huge milestone, “This launch represents a significant step forward in our mission to provide top-tier BPO services while contributing to Kenya’s socio-economic development. We believe in the potential of this region and are excited to set the gold standard for BPO operations in Africa.”
Martin Roe, CEO of CCI Global, reaffirmed Africa’s status as a prime destination for call centre operations, with Kenya emerging as a standout choice. He noted confidence in Kenya’s thriving BPO industry, highlighting the company’s goal of advancing the country’s economic sector and providing employment opportunities.
The new CCI Tatu City call centre will employ over 5,000 Kenyans, spanning a spectrum of roles from call centre agents to managerial positions. This investment reflects a portion of CCI Global’s $150 million commitment to Kenya since 2016, with a cumulative investment exceeding $2 billion across Africa.
In alignment with environmental sustainability goals, the state-of-the-art facility will operate on 96% renewable energy, utilizing solar panels, natural air corridors, and self-shading walls to minimize carbon emissions. The project has garnered accolades, receiving awards from The African Property Awards and certifications for environmental responsibility.
Stephen Jennings, Founder & CEO of Rendeavour, the developer of Tatu City, commended CCI’s contribution to Kenya’s BPO industry, noting the potential for job creation in the coming years. He emphasized the important role of management, technology, and international partnerships in empowering Kenyan BPO workers to excel globally.
CCI Global’s commitment to Kenya doesn’t stop here. The company has already announced plans for a second call center in Tatu City, with the potential to double its Kenyan workforce to 10,000.
